God as energy (quotes)

.

God can be perceived to be energy or electricity

.

Some see God as energy…

  • I define God as an energy. A spiritual energy. It has no denomination, it has no judgment, it has an energy that when we’re connected to it we know why we’re here and what we’re here to do. Debbie Ford
  • I’m very moved by chaos theory, and that sense of energy. That quantum physics. We don’t really, in Hindu tradition, have a father figure of a God. It’s about cosmic energy, a little spark of which is inside every individual as the soul. Bharati Mukherjee
  • Every volcano is a powerful illustration of God’s character. He is a Vesuvius of goodness, life, and energy. Reinhard Bonnke
  • Everyone and everything that shows up in the world of form in this universe originates not from a particle, as quantum physics teaches us, but from an energy field. That energy field can be called God, soul, spirit, or consciousness. It looks a certain way, sounds a certain way, and feels a certain way. I try to stay in harmony with what I believe it sounds and feels like. Wayne Dyer
  • Finally, I would suggest that imagining God as energy is closer to the nature of the divine than those metaphors that image God with human characteristics. The divine more closely resembles and is more truly energy than person. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Forever is longer than you know. Eternal is longer than Forever. God is more than you imagine. God is the energy you call imagination. God is creation. God is first thought. And God is last experience. And God is everything in between. Neale Donald Walsch
  • I believe in god as a form of universal energy. Tanushree Dutta
  • I do believe in God. I don’t believe in God as a person, but I believe in God as a state of energy and consciousness that we all share. David Dobkin
  • I had a different vision of God. In my mind’s eye I saw energy, manifest as flashes of light, in constant motion. Nothing was static in this universe. The flashes of light, like stars in motion against a night sky, were going in many directions at once. They were connecting and creating connections across space and time. What seemed most real in this universe was energy, ever in motion. God, the divine, was the energy itself, dynamic and connecting. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • I know that what you call ‘God’ really exists, but not in the form you think; God is primal cosmic energy, the love in your body, your integrity, and your perception of the nature in you and outside of you. Wilhelm Reich
  • I think God is a giant vibrator in the sky … a pulsating force of incredible energy. David Arquette
  • I think that G-O-D is like the answer to a formula for creating life. Or some kind of energy or antigravity. It’s like the answer to an equation and it’s become mythical over the years. But at one time we all knew what it was. I don’t know when it was exactly, but that was the ancient knowledge. It’s become diffused as it was handed down and turned into myth. Debbie Harry
  • Is the god the source, or is the god a human manner of conceiving of the force and energy that supports the world? Joseph Campbell
  • Is there a higher energy? I would say yes, even if the energy is collective. Even if it’s kind of Jungian, or the whole thing is collective consciousness, that may be God as far as I’m concerned. So is there an energy that’s higher than mine? Yes. But would I claim it as God? I would say no. Holly Hunter
  • It isn’t so much that God is the unified state of consciousness that each of us came from and will return to, but more so that God is the creative energy flowing between all states of consciousness. God is in the land beyond the mountains, but God is also in the mountains and in the valley of illusions cradled within the mountains. God is not one thing or another, rather God flows between and through all things. Elizabeth Lesser
  • Om is the mysterious cosmic energy that is the substratum of all the things and all the being of the entire universe. It is the eternal song of the Divine. Amit Ray
  • Oneness of the Divine. It may be given a thousand names such as The Primary Cause / God / Energy / I. All that is created has its Self this Oneness. Sathya Sai Baba
  • People think God is a man. People think God has got ears, nose, teeth and he rises daily in the morning, brushes his teeth and washes his mouth. And he is an old man and he has a beard. All these things people think. But no, God is energy. God is perfect and pure energy. Prem Rawat
  • That has been my personal relationship with God-a connection with the powerful, loving, wise energy in all of us, in all creation. It is the life force itself. We can all have contact with it each moment in our lives, but it takes commitment and practice. We must be willing to move through all our deepest fears, doubts, and misunderstandings. Shakti Gawain
  • The universe, God and souls are pure, positive energy of Light and Love. This is not religion. This is quantum physics. Sheralyn Braegger
  • This God metaphor likens the divine to neither person nor concrete thing. Energy, by definition, is not matter. It is dynamism. Fundamentally, God as energy is force of life. God is action, rather than actor. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • We don’t really, in Hindu tradition, have a father figure of a God. It’s about cosmic energy, a little spark of which is inside every individual as the soul. Bharati Mukherjee
  • Whether you call the principle of existence “God,” “matter,” “energy,” or anything else you like, you have created nothing; you have merely changed a symbol. Carl Jung
  • The mystery of the universe, and the meaning of God’s world, are shrouded in hopeless obscurity, until we learn to feel that all laws suppose a lawgiver, and that all working involves a Divine energy. Alexander MacLaren
  • Everything is made of energy. And at the core of this energy is Alpha and Omega, the Father-Mother light, the energy that is the source of life on earth. Elizabeth Clare Prophet
  • To me, God is an intelligent, loving, conscious energy and why do I say that? Well you need energy to create. You have to have a source. It’s undifferentiated energy which has intelligence or it couldn’t create. Bernie Siegel
  • That energy field can be called God, soul, spirit, or consciousness. Wayne Dyer
.

…or as an electric current running through all

  • Consciousness is not primarily a person. In the human person, it appears as a human being. In a donkey, it appears as donkey consciousness, dog consciousness, butterfly consciousness. Just a human expression.  Like one electricity is coming into this place.  In the lightbulb it shows as light, in the fan it creates gusts of air, in the fridge it makes things cold, in the CD player, it plays music.  But electricity is none of those things.  It expresses depending on the instrument in which it is expressing and the functionality of that instrument.  Mooji
  • God is all-pervasive, why can’t we see it?” one son asked Amma. Are we able to see electricity? No, but when we touch a live wire, we will receive a shock. You experience electricity. The God principle is also an experience. It is through experience that we should know God. Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi
  • God is the electricity and we are the lamps. Marianne Williamson
  • I believe that God is like a powerhouse, like where you keep electricity, like a power station. And that he’s a supreme power, and that he’s neither good not bad, left, right, black or white. He just is. And we tap that source of power and make of it what we will. Just as electricity can kill people in a chair, or you can light a room with it. I think God is. John Lennon
  • Often you can see power lines running alongside the street. Unless current is flowing through them, there is no light. The power line is you and I! The current is God! We have the power to allow the current to flow through us and thus to generate the light of the world: JESUS – or to refuse to be used and, thus, allow the darkness to spread. Mother Teresa
  • Our job as bulbs that shine the divine light, is to plug in. Anthony Lambert
  • Our lives are merely strange dark interludes in the electric display of God the Father. Eugene O’Neill
  • Our very name for God’s Creation is NATURE, for that is what Nature is. I shall define Nature for you in simple words. Nature is an electric wave thought image of God’s nature, electrically projected from His formless and unconditioned ONE LIGHT into countless many forms of conditioned light which we call matter. Walter Russell
  • The undoing of the identification with the ego/ self is the primary focus of spiritual evolution and is the enigma that has baffled even the most erudite minds of history. The primary problem is misidentification of the actual source of subjectivity and the presumption that it is local rather than nonlocal. An analogy to the above would be that of electricity, which is a generic type of energy and therefore ‘impersonal’. When it runs through a toaster or a fan, the device would then mistakenly identify itself as being the primary source and not realize that it is only an outlet unit. Without the ‘life’ energy of electricity, each receiving unit would be inert.  David R. Hawkins
  • The universe is wired with the electricity of God, and each of us is a lamp. It doesn’t matter the size or shape of the lamp; it only matters that the lamp is plugged in. With every prayer, every thought of forgiveness, every meditation, every act of love, we plug in. The more of us who plug in, to more the darkness of the world will be cast from our midst. Today, let’s all increase love’s wattage! Marianne Williamson
  • There are countless electric appliances doing different things; from mixing fruit to making phone calls, from navigating space shuttles to playing movies, from setting off explosives to monitoring vital signs in intensive care units around the world. Notwithstanding this wide variety of activities, all these appliances are powered (enlivened, if you will) by the same energy. When a fruit mixer breaks down, nothing happens to the electricity. That which animated the now broken machine is itself unbroken. Leo Hartong
  • This ‘Primal You’ is not the personal character which identifies itself as a body/mind organism. It is the energy that ‘powers’ this whole manifestation. Compare this Animating Energy to electricity, which expresses as light via a light bulb. The light bulb may consider its wiring as that which supplies the light. When the bulb ‘hears’ about this undying electricity, it may say, ‘Yes, but when this wiring inside me finally gives out, the light disappears and that will be the end of me.’ If this lamp would see that the light originates in the electricity and not in its wiring, it would recognize this as its true nature; That which enlivens it and That which is not affected by the end of the lamp. All I can suggest is to find out how real this ‘me’ is that might die. The certainty that you are not the body has to come and burn away the doubts. Find and recognize ‘the electricity’ that lights up ‘your’ wiring. This recognition cannot be given to you as it takes the ‘you’ you think you are away. See if this ‘you’ that supposedly does the thinking can be found apart from thought itself. See if there really is a ‘you’ that does the thinking and the living. If it cannot be found, then who is going to die? As long as you believe yourself to be limited to the body/mind organism, instead of seeing that you are the Animating Energy, you will be like the lamp and you will sell yourself short. Leo Hartong
  • When two people relate to each other authentically and humanly, God is the electricity that surges between them. Martin Buber
  • Often you can see power lines running alongside the street. Unless current is flowing through them, there is no light. The power line is you and I! The current is God! We have the power to allow the current to flow through us and thus to generate the light of the world: Mother Teresa
  • The energy of life entering and leaving your body flows evenly throughout the universe. With that current, the mind of the cosmos communicates with all things. Ilchi Lee

God as energy is life, love, light and creativity

.

God as energy is that which powers life…

  • A genuine smile distributes the cosmic current, Prana to every body cell. The happy man is less subject to disease, for happiness actually attracts into the body a greater supply of the Universal life energy. Paramahansa Yogananda
  • Another metaphor for energy is life. Life is also a common way to understand God. God is life itself or the source of life. Since life is still abstract, there are a number of metaphorical ways to image life, such as water or air or breath. God is like water, which makes life possible. God is like air or breath without which no one can live. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • But although life is not energy, any more than it is matter, yet it directs energy and thereby controls arrangements of matter. Oliver Lodge
  • Conserve the vital energy, follow a balanced diet, and always smile and be happy. He who finds joy within himself discovers that his body is charged with electric current, life energy, not from food but from God. If you feel that you can’t smile, stand before a mirror and with your fingers pull your mouth into a smile. It is that important! Paramahansa Yogananda
  • However, the dynamic motion of God as energy is not totally random. We can speak of purpose to the extent that God as energy enables life. The purpose of divine power, as energy, is life. The divine energizes into existence. God is the energy of and for life. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • In that way God as energy for life is mystery, incomprehensible to our limited abilities of perception and cognition. God is as close as breath yet beyond the universe. God is the power of life but not contained by any and all life. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Life is infinite energy coupled with limitless creative imagination. It is the invisible essence and substance of every visible form. Its nature is goodness, truth, wisdom and beauty, as well as energy and imagination. Our highest satisfaction comes from a sense of conscious union with this invisible Life. All human endeavor is an attempt to get back to first principles, to find such an inward wholeness that all sense of fear, doubt and uncertainty vanishes. Ernest Holmes
  • Life, is energy. It is the energy that makes your heart beat and makes you breathe, that causes the cells of your body to automatically grow and reproduce the moment you are conceived! Tae Yun Kim
  • Peace is the harmonious control of life. It is vibrant with life-energy. It is a power that easily transcends all our worldly knowledge. Yet it is not separate from our earthly existence. If we open the right avenues within, this peace can be felt here and now. Sri Chinmoy
  • There are really no “objects” in the world at all, only vibrations of energy, and relationships. Eben Alexander
  • This universe of energy is what makes life happen. What is fundamental to life, what is the really real, is pulsating, interacting, interrelating movement. There is, however, no given end built into existence other than life itself. Life is open, the future open ended. There is no fixed essence or even existence that is particular to the life of any given thing. Flora A. Keshgegian
.

…the very life force that courses through us

  • We might think of such energy as the life force of the universe. Its power is of and for life. If we can speak of any directing purpose, it is for life. The universe keeps going, both in the sense of constant motion and dynamism but also in the sense that life seeks life. Life is ongoing. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Despite not being able to perceive the interpenetrating subtle energy with our five senses, to one degree or another we are all aware of it. The experiential religious traditions of the world—from yoga to Sufism, to charismatic Christianity, to tai chi—call these subtle energies life force. Working with life force is the heart of many alternative healing methods. Joseph Selbie
  • Life, this anti-entropy, ceaselessly reloaded with energy, is a climbing force, toward order amidst chaos, toward light, among the darkness of the indefinite, toward the mystic dream of Love, between the fire which devours itself and the silence of the Cold. Albert Claude
  • Positive energy is your priceless life force. Protect it. Don’t allow people to draw from your reserves; select friends who recharge your energies . Chalene Johnson
  • There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique, and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium, and be lost. Martha Graham

  • Who are we? We are the life-force power of the universe. Jill Bolte Taylor
  • We are the living links in a life force that moves and plays around and through us, binding the deepest soils with the farthest stars. Alan Chadwick
  • You need energy and life force to see and feel what you need to do. Otherwise you are in a dark room and you can’t tell what’s going on. You need to practice meditation. Frederick Lenz
  • There is a life-force within your soul, seek that life. Rumi
  • I am the life-force power of the universe. I am the life-force power of the 50 trillion beautiful molecular geniuses that make up my form, at one with all that is. Jill Bolte Taylor
  • In India’s spiritual tradition, the life force is known as prana; in China, chi (also spelled qi). The ancient Egyptians referred to it as ka; the Greeks, pneuma. In Judaism, the life force is known as ruach; in Christianity, spiritus. Joseph Selbie
.

God as energy is love

  • ‘Someday after we have mastered the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we will harness for God the energies of love,’ writes the philosopher Teilhard de Chardin. ‘And then, for the second time in the history of the world, we will have discovered fire.’ Defying entropy, defying probability, God is, in the words of Samuel Longfellow, the ‘Life that maketh all things new.’ When I recognize the presence of God working through me, I live with a sense of high adventure and eternal significance. Ann Fields
  • Existence is god called through love, provoked through love. The moment you become capable of prayer, existence becomes god. The moment you become capable of deep love, life becomes god. It is a transfiguration of the same energy. Rajneesh
  • God to me is love. I feel like it’s this energy. God is energy, love is energy. Kendrick Lamar
  • Grace is God himself, his loving energy at work within his church and within our souls. Evelyn Underhill
  • Love is not an intellectual concept or a moral imperative or anything else. It is the background emotion that exists when one is connected to the energy available in the universe, which of course, is the energy of God. James Redfield
  • Real love is a cosmic force which goes through us. If we crystallize it, it becomes the greatest power in the world. I. Gurdjieff
  • There is only one emotion, one energy, in the universe. The energy, the emotion that we call love. When you know this, everything changes. Neale Donald Walsch
  • We become truly personal by loving God and by loving other humans… In its deepest sense, love is the life, the energy, of the Creator in us. Kallistos Ware
  • We have in us a divine spark that you can see. It’s a Light that shines in the human being. It’s our direct access to truth, our direct access to God. The purpose of all the spiritual practices that exist are to awaken that spark to give it life, to give it energy, so that it can transform you. One of the energies that comes from that spark is Love. Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee
  • You only have power in your energy field … so the only way to live the life you want is in your energy field … and your greatest power is love. Oprah Winfrey
  • Love one another and help others to rise to the higher levels, simply by pouring out love. Love is infectious and the greatest healing energy. Sai Baba
  • The BEST representation of Source Energy that you will ever find in your physical format is inexpressible. It’s that feeling of love and appreciation that just WELLS up within you, that is so sensational that you can hardly find words for it. That’s the true ESSENCE of who you are. Esther Hicks
  • One individual who lives and vibrates to the energy of pure love and reverence for all of life will counterbalance the negativity of 750,000 individuals who calibrate at the lower weakening levels. Wayne Dyer
  • Love is the primal and universal psychic energy. Love is a sacred reserve of energy; it is like the blood of spiritual evolution. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
  • Love sets our energy free. It opens us and puts us in a flow with spirit and life on many levels. Love is the true secret behind manifestation. David Spangler

  • Love is the immortal flow of energy that nourishes, extends and preserves. It’s eternal goal is life. Smiley Blanton
  • Love isn’t material. It’s energy. Marianne Williamson
.

God as energy is light

  • Because the concept of energy is so abstract and so difficult to hold in our imaginations, we may seek ways to give energy form. There are several traditional images of God that approximate the characteristics of God as energy. One I have already discussed is light. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • If God is energy, however, light is not opposed to darkness, so much as related to it. As Psalm 139, addressing God, states: “darkness and light to you are both alike.” We can view both as dimensions of the divine. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • One of the effects or manifestations of energy which scientists observe is light. Coincidentally, light is a common metaphor for the divine. God is light; the divine enlightens. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • The image of God as light was especially popular among early church theologians. For them, however, light was opposed to darkness, within a dualistic worldview. Light was equated with the good and, therefore, with God and darkness with evil. Light was the source of enlightenment and salvation; darkness connoted ignorance and condemnation. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • We do know that the effects of light provide illumination as well as heat. In those ways, light enables life. Other forms of light, such as sunlight, also seem to point to the dynamic and life-giving qualities of God. They also gesture to the ways in which encountering the divine holds a certain danger. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • What makes light such an appropriate metaphor is that it is a manifestation of energy. Light is dynamic. Although scientists have argued that light is a wave or a particle, most have come to view it as neither. Rather what seem to be particles or waves are effects of light. Light itself remains indefinable and indeterminate. Flora A. Keshgegian
.

God as energy is pure creativity

  • God is the very creative energy of existence – creativity rather than a creator. He is not the poet but the poetry, not the dancer but the dance, not the flower but the fragrance. Rajneesh
  • God is to me that creative force, behind and in the universe, who manifests Himself as energy, as life, as order, as beauty, as thought, as conscience, as love. Henry Sloane Coffin
  • To me, creativity is God. But it will be better if you allow me to change the word god into godliness, because I don`t want to be misunderstood. There is no person like God, but there is tremendous energy – exploding, unending, expanding. This expanding, unending, exploding energy, this creativity, is divine. Rajneesh
  • I do not see God as the Stage Manager or the one penning our dialogue in the cosmic play, but the energy between us that impels us toward creativity, wholeness, synergy, harmony, beauty, and love. Victoria Weinstein
  • One energy field. Our bodies have distracted us from our energy. We are the infinite field of unfolding possibilities. The creative force. Rhonda Byrne

God as energy is everywhere and everything and therefore one with all

.

Everything in the universe is divine energy…

  • Albert Einstein effected a revolution in modern physics and in our understanding of reality by thinking differently about the relationship of energy and matter. His famous formula, E = mc2, suggests that everything is ultimately energy. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • All particles can be transmuted into other particles; they can be created from energy and can vanish into energy. In this world, classical concepts like ‘elementary particle’, ‘material substance’ or ‘isolated object’, have lost their meaning; the whole universe appears as a dynamic web of inseparable energy patterns. Fritjof Capra
  • All matter is energy. Not that matter has energy. But that it is energy. And if it’s all energy, then it can’t be separate.  Energy doesn’t have a cutoff point where it ends and another separate energy begins. Just like the waves of the ocean, it’s all connected. It’s all One.  Ziad Masri
  • E in the equation stands for energy, m for mass and c 2 for the speed of light squared. What the equation says is that mass and energy have an equivalence. They are two forms of the same thing: energy is liberated matter; matter is energy waiting to happen. Bill Bryson
  • Even the subatomic particles found in the twentieth century are now thought to be made of even smaller “strings” of energy, in a continuing regression of subatomic Russian dolls. Alan Lightman
  • Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Albert Einstein
  • If we were able to alter the way the brain decodes information, then instead of seeing separate people and buildings and mountains, we would simply see interconnected waves of energy vibrating at different frequencies. Ziad Masri
  • Mass is a form of energy and energy a form of mass in what is now the best known equation in the history of the world: E=mc2. Stephen Hawkins
  • Mass is nothing but a form of energy. Even an object at rest has energy stored in its mass, and the relation between the two is given by the famous equation E= mc2, c being the speed of light. Fritjof Capra
  • Physicists abandoned their belief in a Newtonian, material universe because they had come to realize that the universe is not made of matter suspended in empty space but energy. Bruce H. Lipton
  • Science teaches that, on the atomic level, nothing is solid. The particles that make up the universe, the Earth, and all its creatures, are mostly empty space and energy. So, a rock and a human are both a configuration of energy. Rocks and people fall apart, but energy does not. Godsey chooses to think of this combination of energy as spiritual, and the connections between them as a constant state of God. This, Godsey asserts, is where concepts of religion and God can live with scientific reality. He takes an almost kabbalistic approach to the idea of God. We are all God. “God is a verb,” a constant result of the act of interconnectedness. Kirby Godsey
  • The basic stuff of the universe, at its core, is looking like a kind of pure energy that is malleable to human intention and expectation in a way that defies our old mechanistic model of the universe–as though our expectation itself causes our energy to flow out into the world and affect other energy systems. James Redfield
  • The fact that energy and matter are one and the same is precisely what Einstein recognized when he concluded that E = mc2. Simply stated, this equation reveals that energy (E) = matter (m, mass) multiplied by the speed of light squared (c2). Einstein revealed that we do not live in a universe with discrete, physical objects separated by dead space. The Universe is one indivisible, dynamic whole in which energy and matter are so deeply entangled it is impossible to consider them as independent elements. Bruce H. Lipton
  • The universe and everything in it is energy. In the beginning and in the end is energy. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • The visible world is the invisible organization of energy. Heinz Pagels
  • Superstring theory states that, as we go to smaller and smaller levels of matter, the smallest elements are not particles of matter, but instead they are vibrations of extremely small strings of energy. Jocelyn Mercado |
.

…just at different levels of vibration…

  • Everything existing in nature is energy in a more or less compact stage of vibration, exhibiting weight according to its mass or distinguishing gravitation. Paramahansa Yogananda
  • The difference between matter and Spirit is in the rate of vibration—a difference of degree, not of kind. This point may be better understood by the following example. Although all vibrations are qualitatively alike, vibrations from 16 to 20,000 cycles per second are gross enough to be audible to man’s sense of hearing, but vibrations below 16 or over 20,000 are generally inaudible. There is no essential difference between audible and inaudible vibrations, though a relative difference does exist. Paramahansa Yogananda
  • From THE ALL, which is Pure Spirit, down to the grossest form of Matter, all is in vibration–the higher the vibration, the higher the position in the scale. The vibration of Spirit is at such an infinite rate of intensity and rapidity that it is practically at rest–just as a rapidly moving wheel seems to be motionless. And at the other end of the scale, there are gross forms of matter whose vibrations are so low as to seem at rest. Between these poles, there are millions upon millions of varying degrees of vibration. From corpuscle and electron, atom and molecule, to worlds and universes, everything is in vibratory motion. This is also true on the planes of energy and force (which are but varying degrees of vibration); and also on the mental planes (whose states depend upon vibrations); and even on to the spiritual planes. The Kybalion
  • The highest energy vibration from which all energy vibrations emanate, is called God, or THE ALL which is Unknowable and Undefinable. James Graves-Barakaat
  • There are millions upon millions of energy vibrations, and while the higher vibrations of energy are called spirit, all energy vibrations are spirit including matter which is the densest form of energy vibrations. Thus, all that is made is made of energy individualized as spirit. James Graves-Barakaat
  • Everything is in motion. Everything flows. Everything is vibrating. Anthony Lambert
.

…including all matter

  • Matter is a light-show illusion made of vibrating energy. Joseph Selbie
  • Matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. Bill Hicks
  • Matter Is the intelligent organization of energy. Joseph Selbie
  • Modern science has discovered that the various material elements are nothing more than differently vibrating atoms. The universe is a cosmic motion picture of dancing atoms, which in turn are energy-sparks—not matter at all but vibratory waves. Yogananda
  • Relativity theory shows that mass has nothing to do with any substance, but is a form of energy. The fact that the mass of a particle is equivalent to a certain amount of energy means that the particle can no longer be seen as a static object, but has to be conceived as a dynamic pattern, a process involving the energy which manifests itself as the particle’s mass. Fritjof Capra
  • The scientifically indisputable truth that matter is in reality a concentrate of energy. Paramahansa Yogananda
  • Through experiments over the past few decades physicists have discovered matter to be completely mutable into other particles or energy and vice-versa and on a subatomic level, matter does not exist with certainty in definite places, but rather shows ‘tendencies’ to exist. Quantum physics is beginning to realise that the Universe appears to be a dynamic web of interconnected and inseparable energy patterns. If the universe is indeed composed of such a web, there is logically no such thing as a part. This implies we are not separated parts of a whole but rather we are the Whole. Barbara Brennan
  • We see around us that which is called “Matter, which forms the physical foundation for all forms. Is THE ALL merely Matter? Not at all! Matter cannot manifest Life or Mind, and as Life and Mind are manifested in the Universe, THE ALL cannot be Matter, for nothing rises higher than its own source–nothing is ever manifested in an effect that is not in the cause–nothing is evolved as a consequent that is not involved as an antecedent. And then Modern Science informs us that there is really no such thing as Matter–that what we call Matter is merely “interrupted energy or force, that is, energy or force at a low rate of vibration. As a recent writer has said “Matter has melted into Mystery. Even Material Science has abandoned the theory of Matter, and now rests on the basis of “Energy.”  The Kybalion
  • What is matter? Nothing but a particular rate of vibration of God’s cosmic energy. No form in the universe is really solid. That which appears so is merely a compact or gross vibration of His energy. Paramahansa Yogananda
  • When God speaks, when the Word speaks, energy is translated into matter. What is atomic fission? It is matter translated back into energy—poof! it disappears. Creation began with energy. In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God. The Word was God. Vernon McGee
  • When two particles collide with high energies, they generally break into pieces, but these pieces are not smaller than the original particles. They are again particles of the same kind and are created out of the energy of motion (‘kinetic energy’) involved in the collision process. Fritjof Capra
  • The quantum field is the source of all things in material reality. It’s all One thing—an ocean of energy that collapses into seemingly separate forms that we call stars and planets and animals and trees and human beings, giving them the temporary illusion of solidity and separation from their purely energetic source. Ziad Masri
  • Without perceiving things through the old filter of past conditioning and conceptualization, one can sense the universe is intensely alive. Even so-called inanimate objects – I often pick up little objects and just look at them and sense that they are alive. Physicists actually confirm that what we perceive as dead matter is not dead at all. Everything is an intensely alive energy field. That aliveness is only an aspect of the aliveness or life that I am. Eckhart Tolle

The energy that is God is everywhere and in everything

  • If God is energy for life then God is in everything. God is present everywhere. Nothing and no one has life without the presence of God. Metaphors of God as breath or life force or even heart connote this. Just as we are not alive without the presence of breath or a beating heart, if we are alive then God is with us and in us. The divine is present not only in us, but in all that is alive, the whole universe and all that is in it. God is in creation, all of it. This is full panentheism. It may even be a form of pantheism since everything and everyone is fundamentally energy. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Energy is all pervasive, just as is God. There is no place in the universe where energy is absent. Murali Chemuturi
  • The Divine mind is as visible in its full energy of operation on every lowly bank and mouldering stone as in the lifting of the pillars of heaven, and settling the foundation of the earth. John Ruskin
  • If you want to say that ‘God is energy,’ then you can find God in a lump of coal. Steven Weinberg
.

Even empty space is filled with the energy that is God

  • According to our current understanding of physics, every region of space is awash with different kinds of fields composed of waves of varying lengths. Each wave always has at least some energy. When physicists calculate the minimum amount of energy a wave can possess, they find that every cubic centimeter of empty space contains more energy than the total energy of all the matter in the known universe! Michael Talbot
  • If our universe is only a pale shadow of a deeper order, what else lies hidden, enfolded in the warp and weft of our reality? Bohm has a suggestion. According to our current understanding of physics, every region of space is awash with different kinds of fields composed of waves of varying lengths. Each wave always has at least some energy. When physicists calculate the minimum amount of energy a wave can possess, they find that every cubic centimeter of empty space contains more energy than the total energy of all the matter in the known universe! Some physicists refuse to take this calculation seriously and believe it must somehow be in error. Bohm thinks this infinite ocean of energy does exist and tells us at least a little about the vast and hidden nature of the implicate order. He feels most physicists ignore the existence of this enormous ocean of energy because, like fish who are unaware of the water in which they swim, they have been taught to focus primarily on objects embedded in the ocean, on matter. Michael Talbot
  • The space between planetary bodies isn’t empty, but filled with a sea of energy; the potential energy in one square inch can be said to be as great as that of the whole mass of the physical universe. David R. Hawkins

God is the energy within us

  • God intended Earth. God intended the waters. God intended you and me. We were created in the image and the likeness of God; we are holograms, if you will. So the power, the presence, the energy is within you and me. The energy of God, as life, is within each of us. Mary Manin Morrissey
  • God made us angels of energy, encased in solids – currents of life dazzling through a material bulb of flesh. Paramahansa Yogananda
  • Now I know that this energy within me is seeking more than the mate or the profession or the religion – more even than pleasure or power or meaning. It is seeking more of me; or better, it is, thank God, releasing more of me. Hugh Prather
  • What the equation is saying is that there is a huge amount – a really huge amount – of energy bound up in every material thing. You may not feel outstandingly robust, but if you are an average-sized adult you will contain within your modest frame no less than 7 × 1018 joules of potential energy – enough to explode with the force of thirty very large hydrogen bombs, assuming you knew how to liberate it and really wished to make a point. Everything has this kind of energy trapped within it. Even a uranium bomb – the most energetic thing we have produced yet – releases less than 1 per cent of the energy it could release if only we were more cunning.  Bill Bryson

God is the energy that surrounds us

  • I think God surrounds us, in all different manifestations of the energy. Ziggy Marley
.

God is the energy field between us

  • There is an energy field between humans. And, when we reach out in passion, it is met with an answering passion and changes the relationship forever. Rollo May
  • When two people relate to each other authentically and humanly, God is the electricity that surges between them. Martin Buber
  • Whenever you meet anybody, it is a holy encounter. The primary event is the energy field of presence between you and the other human being that arises. You enjoy it. There is deep joy in the meeting. Eckhart Tolle
  • In this way, a permanent energy field of a pure and high frequency will arise between you. No illusion, no pain, no conflict, nothing that is not you, and nothing that is not love can survive in it. Eckhart Tolle
.

We are all part of the one ocean of energy…

  • Beyond the deception of perception, we are like waves in the ocean of humanity, all connected as One basic energy. Ziad Masri
  • Every seemingly separate thing is actually one energy vibrating at an infinite number of different frequencies. Ziad Masri
  • I believe that the Universe is one being, all its parts are different expressions of the same energy, and they are all in communication with each other, therefore parts of one organic whole. Robinson Jeffers
  • If you think of the universe as a vast electrical sea in which you are immersed and from which you are formed, opening to your creativity, changes you from something bobbing in that sea to a more fully functioning, more conscious, more cooperative part of that ecosystem. Julia Cameron
  • It is simply One, expressing and manifesting itself as the complex illusion of the multitude that is the dance of creation. Leo Hartong
  • It’s all One thing—an ocean of energy that collapses into seemingly separate forms that we call stars and planets and animals and trees and human beings, giving them the temporary illusion of solidity and separation from their purely energetic source. Ziad Masri
  • We should be thankful and loving because everything we interact with is ultimately interconnected as One Mind or One Spirit, being illusory projections of the One energy that many people label as “God.” Ziad Masri
  • You, yourself, are the eternal energy which appears as this Universe. You didn’t come into this world; you came out of it. Like a wave from the ocean. Alan Watts
  • I believe that the universe is one being, all its parts are different expressions of the same energy… parts of one organic whole… The parts change and pass, or die, people and races and rocks and stars; none of them seems to me important in itself, but only the whole. This whole is in all its parts so beautiful, and is felt by me to be so intensely in earnest, that I am compelled to love it, and to think of it as divine. Robinson Jeffers
  • The energy of the stars becomes us. We become the energy of the stars. Stardust and spirit unite and we begin: one with the universe, whole and holy. From one source, endless creative energy, bursting forth, kinetic, elemental; we, the earth, air, water and fire-source of nearly fifteen billion years of cosmic spiraling. Dennis Kucinich
.

…and therefore, one with God

  • I now understood more fully why we don’t feel our Oneness with God moment to moment, constantly, while on the earth plane. We feel separated because of our physical bodies; we think we ARE the body and are therefore physical, yet we know that God is Spirit. Thus the sense of separation. In both worlds there is nothing but energy, invisible and visible; we are spiritual beings wherever we may be. We are energy and God is energy, and energy cannot be broken up or separated. Born of God, we are spirit, and cannot be anything else. All is mind – one mind. We are that mind asleep – yet awakening, and God is that mind eternally aware.  Jan Price
  • Just as a wave is a movement of the whole ocean, you are the energy of the cosmos. Don’t underestimate your power. Deepak Chopra
  • This universe is a pulsing web of relations. The emphasis here is on interrelationship, interdependence, and dynamic connection. Everything is in relation with and affects everything else. Human beings are part of the web of creation. We are no longer the center of the universe nor are we the pinnacle of a hierarchy. Rather everything that is manifests God as the energy for life. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • To know that you are God is another way of saying that you feel completely with this universe. You feel profoundly rooted in it and connected with it. You feel, in other words, that the whole energy, which expresses itself in the galaxies, is intimate. It is not something to which you are a stranger, but it is that with which you, whatever it is, are intimately bound up. That in your seeing, your hearing, your talking, your thinking, your moving, you express that which it is that moves the sun and other stars.. Alan Watts
  • We ARE all God, but we are the differentiated, dispersed, individualized units or scattered pockets of energy that make up the potential form of God. The mind and intellect of God will not exist as a conscious, moral agent until we collectively develop OUR sense of logic and reason and establish a firm grasp of right and wrong on a global scale. Poffo Ortiz
  • We are pockets of energy within the ocean of energy that is God. Anthony Lambert

The energy that is God is available to us

All power comes from God, the source of all energy

  • Energy doesn’t come to us so much from the things around us-although we can absorb energy directly from some plants and sacred sites. Sacred energy comes from our connection to the divine inside us. James Redfield
  • I tapped into that space of divine flow, where all beings, all things are connected. That space is real. You cannot have a meaningful life without having spiritual self-reflection. Know who you are and why you are here. When you tap into that space, divine flow, that universal energy, you become untouchable in what you are called to do. Oprah Winfrey
  • Enlightenment means literally aligning to the Energy of my Source. Esther Hicks
  • There exists a powerful energizing force in the spiritual life principle. All energy began with the Creator, who infused it not only in all natural processes, but also into that higher form of nature called human nature. The more closely, then, that a person identifies with the Creator, the more surely that person will experience within his or her own nature the process of re-creation which operates in all creation. Norman Vincent Peale
  • The electric energy which motivates us is not within our bodies at all. It is a part of the universal supply which flows through us from the Universal Source with an intensity set by our desires and our will. Walter Russell
  • The energy of life entering and leaving your body flows evenly throughout the universe. With that current, the mind of the cosmos communicates with all things. Ilchi Lee
  • God, the Creator of the ends of the earth … gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint (Isa. 40:28–31).
  • Energy is power. The dynamism of energy is powerful. Since energy is at the core of all that is, we might even say it is absolute power. Such power, the dynamism of energy, is not moral, however. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • These ideas speak of the power of God as that which makes life happen and which enlivens our existence. Flora A. Keshgegian
.

God as energy can be directly experienced

  • Experiences of divine energy, however they happen, leave us feeling more alive and thankful for life. We know that we are part of a whole, something more than ourselves. Those moments offer evidence of the power of God as energy for life. They reveal the mystery that is life. They evoke our wonder. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • God as energy also has the capacity to reawaken a sense of wonder and to reconnect with God as mystery. Such mystery evokes within us a mystical apprehension of the relatedness of all that is, along with a sense of the profound complexity of life and our inability to fathom it in its fullness. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • God is not something I think about but something I experience as an energy, a Presence. Olympia Dukakis
  • Occasionally, even the most mundane of activities is experienced in an immensely powerful or deeply moving way. Then the everyday becomes transformative. In those moments, something happens that is more than the sum of the parts. Divine energy manifests in a different kind of way. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Intellectual belief in our higher potential, our divine nature, is a starting point, but such belief is not enough to change deeply held convictions. Direct inner experience attained through practicing meditation, on the other hand, will transmute those deeply held convictions by enabling us directly to experience the subtler, interconnected, nonmaterial reality of energy and thought. Joseph Selbie

The energy of God is available to us…

  • I think we can affect our own fates, but there’s also a powerful energy that’s the universe or God or whatever your unconscious recognizes that helps along your way. Charlie Hunnam
  • The whole existence is surrounded by a divine energy that protects you, cares for you, is always available. If you go on missing it, it is only because of you. If you keep your doors closed, the sun may be outside but you will live in darkness. Even if the doors are open and the sun is there, you can keep your eyes closed and you will still live in darkness. So is the case with god: his love is always there but our hearts are not open, our hearts are closed. Rajneesh
  • One of the truths I most deeply believe is that everything in life – everything – is energy. Within every one of us is the energy that makes the sun rise every day and keeps the planets aligned. It’s there, already inside of you, waiting for you to know it. And when you tap in with that connection, that source, that miraculous energy, what I know for sure is that the universe rises up to meet you in unimaginable ways and help you create the life that you want. Oprah Winfrey
  • If you decide on your direction, God will give you the energy for the distance. B. Joshua
.

…waiting to be harnessed…

  • The goal is to live with God like composure on the full rush of energy, like Dionysus riding the leopard, without being torn to pieces. Joseph Campbell
  • The organs of the body are essentially sustained by the energy of God, and the person who employs various methods to increase this energy will have at his command a greater power for healing than is afforded by any medicine or diet. Paramahansa Yogananda
  • What most people perceive as energy is really strength of spirit. It comes from the joy of knowing God, loving Him, and being loved by Him. Kathie Lee Gifford
  • When the Spirit of God comes into us, He wants to be Himself in us. He wants His energy to be poured through us. He wants His wisdom to be deposited in our hearts. T. B. Joshua
  • It is not my strength that grows, so much as God’s strength in me, which is given more abundantly as the days roll. It is so given on one condition. If my faith has laid hold of the infinite, the exhaustless, the immortal energy of God, unless there is something fearfully wrong about me, I shall be getting purer, nobler, wiser, more observant of His will; gentler, like Christ; every way fitter for His service, and for larger service, as the days increase. Alexander MacLaren
  • I had been achieving heights by pushing down on the lower energies. But that was just a form of suppression. I had to learn to channel those energies upward instead of pushing them away from me. Michael A. Singer
  • We can be tired, weary and emotionally distraught, but after spending time alone with God, we find that He injects into our bodies energy, power and strength. Charles Stanley
.

…by connecting to it…

  • That has been my personal relationship with God–a connection with the powerful, loving, wise energy in all of us, in all creation. It is the life force itself.  We can all have contact with it each moment in our lives, but it takes commitment and practice.  We must be willing to move through all our deepest fears, doubts, and misunderstandings.  Shakti Gawain
  • God is the power that is keeping this universe in place, and we can be connected to that power source. Mike Parsons
  • A different image of God changes our spiritual lives profoundly. If we think of God as nutrient and energy, as the source from which we draw life and strength, it changes our spiritual instincts. If God were the substrate from which we draw being, then Divine Life is always present in us, and we are always present in God. If this was our view of God, it would mean we always have access to the Divine. It would mean we are as inseparable from God as a tree is from the soil. Like the tree, Divine Life is always there, always surrounding and sustaining us. Doug Hammack
  • Draw nigh to God, so that you may dread the grave as little as your bed. Draw nigh to God, that you may live a happy and useful life. Drawing nigh to God is the most concentrated energy of the soul. Effective prayer is the fruit of a relationship with God, not a technique for acquiring blessings. A. Carson
  • I have already hinted that many rituals are fundamentally about connecting with the power of God. Ultimately, the narratives and dramatic actions of any ritual are simply expressions of the desire to connect. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • I learned that I could control my life. You are the master of your fate. . . you are the captain of your soul. I took control and went to my space. . . My space. . . the universal energy. . . I tapped into that space of divine flow, where all beings, all things are connected. That space is real. You cannot have a meaningful life without having spiritual self-reflection. Know who you are and why you are here. When you tap into that space, divine flow, that universal energy, you become untouchable in what you are called to do. Oprah Winfrey
  • Rather than seeking to do God’s will, it is more fitting to speak of connecting with the power of God as energy and strength for life. Such power is like the raging river, as well as the flowing stream. It destroys, even as it creates. Destruction does not make God evil, nor does creation make God good. Both destruction and creation are part of an ongoing process of life. Life leads to death; death flows back to life. In the world of energy there is no ultimate loss, but there is constant change. All is in motion, life unto life. Flora A. Keshgegian
.

…by tuning in to it

  • God is a frequency. Stay tuned. Alan Cohen
  • I believe I am connecting to angels and spirit guides and ancestors. All of that is falling under the category of God and the energy presence of God, and that is what I can tap into when I tune in and slow down. Gabrielle Bernstein
  • If you’re not aligned with God, it’s hard to recognize yourself as being of God. The way that you get aligned with God is by being like God, being like Source, being like energy. That means understanding how God works. Wayne Dyer
.

One way to harness the energy of God is through the power of thought

  • Thought is energy and therefore contains divine power
  • The universe is energy that responds to expectations. James Redfield
  • Thought is the primary energy and vibration that emanated from God and is thus the creator of life, electrons, atoms, and all forms of energy. Paramahansa Yogananda
  • Every thought, action, decision, or feeling creates an eddy in the interlocking, inter-balancing energy fields of life. David R. Hawkins
  • We are what we think, all that we are arises with our thoughts, with our thoughts we make the world. Gautama Buddha
  • Everyone possesses the same creative power as does the infinite intelligent consciousness that creates the cosmos. Joseph Selbie
  • Matter responds, far more than most people realize, to the power of thought. Paramhansa Yogananda
  • Compelling evidence indicates that our thoughts are communicated to others, regardless of distance, and that our thoughts do affect the outcome of physical processes. The evidence also suggests that thought, like the high-frequency energies of the energy-verse, is a nonlocal, interpenetrating phenomenon—undetectable and bound neither by space nor time but present everywhere. Joseph Selbie
  • If we developed the ability immediately to change our deeply held thoughts, however, we could immediately change our physical bodies at will. Joseph Selbie
  • Thoughts create a new heaven, a new firmament, a new source of energy, from which new arts flow. Paracelsus
  • Thoughts are mental energy; they’re the currency that you have to attract what you desire. You must learn to stop spending that currency on thoughts you don’t want. Wayne Dyer
  • Not until we have mastered the exacting mental discipline practiced by the saints and sages will we, like these great ones, be able consciously to use our thoughts to change the hidden, nonlocal energy template and thus the physical world. Joseph Selbie

The energy that is God is inexhaustible

  • God is infinite; and the laws of nature, like nature itself, are finite. These methods of working, therefore, – which correspond to the physical element in us, – do not exhaust His agency. There is a boundless residue of disengaged energy beyond. James Martineau
  • I never get tired because it ain’t energy that’s being dispenced. It is GOD speaking through me. Don King
.

The energy that is God is available for healing

  • If God is energy for life and prayer is about connecting with the divine energy, then there is a way in which healing can be “energized” or “mobilized” by prayer. God is not an agent in this scenario who is directing the action or choosing who gets healed or not. Rather God is the energy that configures or not in such a way that healing is enabled. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Energy healing is based on the supposition that illness results from disturbances in the body’s energies and energy fields and can be addressed via interventions into those energies and energy fields. Jed Diamond
  • I can tell you that anything that happens in the physical body will happen in the pattern of the energy fields first. Barbara Brennan
  • Today healing energy constantly flows through every organ, joint and cell in my body. Louise Hay
  • The best methods are those which help the life energy to resume its inner work of healing. Paramahansa Yogananda

Protect and direct the divine energy flowing through you

  • Your goal in life should be to enjoy the highest levels of health and energy possible. This requires that you eat the right foods and fewer of them. It requires you to get regular exercise and move every joint of your body daily. To enjoy superb physical health, you must get lots of rest and recreation. Above all, you maintain a positive mental attitude, looking for the good in every situation, and remain determined to be a completely positive person. Brian Tracy
  • Energy is the essence of life. Every day you decide how you’re going to use it by knowing what you want and what it takes to reach that goal, and my maintaining focus. Oprah Winfrey
  • All of life is energy and we are transmitting it at every moment. Oprah Winfrey
  • Say goodbye to the energy vampires in your life (the negative souls who steal your enthusiasm). Robin Sharma
.

Clear all negative energy

  • We need to consider ancestral cleansing. If we’re willing to clear our energy fields of the ancestral energies we don’t want, then we are ready to do something really interesting and beautiful which is to claim a connection with the wisdom of the kinds of ancestors we do want to be in contact with. But we can’t do this until we’ve cleaned out the lower stuff that is hindering us. Robert Moss
  • The remnants of pain left behind by every strong negative emotion that is not fully faced, accepted, and then let go of join together to form an energy field that lives in the very cells of your body. Eckhart Tolle

Ways to connect to the energy that is God

.

We can connect to the energy that is God through energy work…

  • Forms of meditation and contemplation are particularly fitting for this type of energy work since often they are about connecting with energy or channeling it. These practices do not require God, as an other, to whom one addresses prayer. Meditation may well bring us more into communion with God. Contemplation may immerse us in dynamic interrelationships. Both may help us be more aware of life and the energy that makes life possible. In that way, they bring us closer to the divine, without necessarily addressing God directly. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Our worship, whatever form it takes, is about focusing energy and participating in the relation of all. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Prayer, worship, ritual are fundamentally “energy work” Flora A. Keshgegian
  • The spiritual energy is an emanation of Self. The inflow of Divine energy is a consequence of karmic propensities, along with Grace, spiritual choice, and the assent of the Will as exemplified by worship, spiritual commitment, prayer, supplication, selfless service, mercy, and love. David R. Hawkins
  • What happens to prayer and worship when God is energy? Are prayer and worship still possible or recognizable? Flora A. Keshgegian
  • A teacher is really invaluable. A teacher will instruct you in how to stabilize your energy field, increase it, and decrease the loss of energy in your life and how to be balanced, wise, and funny. Frederick Lenz

  • In … silence we find a new energy and a real unity. God’s energy becomes our, allowing us to perform things well. Mother Teresa
  • We need silence to be alone with God, to speak to him, to listen to him, to ponder his words deep in our hearts. We need to be alone with God in silence to be renewed and transformed. Silence gives us a new outlook on life. In it we are filled with the energy of God himself that makes us do all things with joy. Mother Teresa
  • Silence is Golden; it has divine power and immense energy. Try to pay more attention to the silence than to the sounds. Eckhart Tolle
.

…through work on the chakras…

The chakras are dimensional portals within the subtle bodies which take in and process energy of higher vibrational nature so that it may be properly assimilated and used to transform the physical body. Richard Gerber

.

…through breathing…

  • In the inhalation and exhalation there is an energy and a lively divine spirit, since He, through his spirit supports the breath of life, giving courage to the people who are in the earth and spirit to those who walk on it. Michael Servetus
.

…through presence…

  • In fact, the collective energy field of presence can be very helpful when people come together. It can give you an enormous boost. Eckhart Tolle
  • Whenever you meet anybody, it is a holy encounter. The primary event is the energy field of presence between you and the other human being that arises. You enjoy it. There is deep joy in the meeting. Eckhart Tolle
  • You can enjoy the present moment, and you can be aligned with the doing. A different state of consciousness, then, is the foundation for what you do. Presence flows into what you do. Even though what you do may be the same, there is a fundamental difference: The energy that flows into what you do, although it may be high energy, is very peaceful energy. It is not out of alignment with life. Eckhart Tolle
  • So, it is essential to bring more consciousness into your life in ordinary situations when everything is going relatively smoothly. In this way, you grow in presence power. It generates an energy field in you and around you of a high vibrational frequency. No unconsciousness, no negativity, no discord or violence can enter that field and survive, just as darkness cannot survive in the presence of light. Eckhart Tolle
  • The collective energy field of presence can be very helpful when people come together. It can give you an enormous boost. Eckhart Tolle
  • In this state of inner connectedness, you are much more alert, more awake than in the mind-identified state. You are fully present.  It also raises the vibrational frequency of the energy field that give life to the physical body.  Eckhart Tolle
  • To maintain a powerful life force, forget yourself, forget about living and dying, and bring your full attention into this moment. E Davey
.

…through becoming aware of the divine energy in the body

  • Feel the energy of your inner body. Immediately mental noise slows down or ceases. Feel it in your hands, your feet, your abdomen, your chest. Feel the life that you are, the life that animates the body. The body then becomes a doorway, so to speak, into a deeper sense of aliveness underneath the fluctuating emotions and underneath your thinking. Eckhart Tolle
  • When Jesus said, “the kingdom of God is within you,” he meant it literally. The more our awareness becomes centered in our subtle energy body, the more happy, fulfilled, loving, compassionate, energetic, and calm we feel. Joseph Selbie
  • No matter what your body’s appearance is on the outer level, beyond the outer form it is an intensely alive energy field. Eckhart Tolle
  • Please open your eyes now, but keep attention in the inner energy field of the body as you look around the room. The inner body lies at the threshold between your form identity and your essence identity, your true nature. Never lose touch with it. Eckhart Tolle
  • Whenever an answer, a solution, or a creative idea is needed, stop thinking for a moment by focusing attention on your inner energy field. … When you resume thinking, it will be fresh and creative. Eckhart Tolle
  • Focus your attention within. Feel the energy of the emotion. If there is no emotion present, take your attention more deeply into the inner energy field of your body. It is the doorway into Being. Eckhart Tolle
  • Experiencing one’s life force more deeply is transformative. Joseph Selbie
  • Meditation, simply defined, is the disciplined shifting of our awareness from the physical body to our subtle astral body. Sitting in stillness, we become less and less aware of the physical body and naturally and effortlessly become more and more aware of our subtle energy body. As we become more aware of our subtle energy body we are filled with the peace, love, and joy that is inherent to it. As we become more aware of our subtle energy body we feel our selves to be less material and more energetic; less defined and more connected; less matter and more Light. Joseph Selbie
  • Make it a habit to ask yourself: What’s going on inside me at this moment? That question will point you in the right direction. But don’t analyze, just watch. Focus your attention within. Feel the energy of the emotion. If there is no emotion present, take your attention more deeply into the inner energy field of your body. It is the doorway into Being. Eckhart Tolle
  • When listening to another person, don’t just listen with your mind, listen with your whole body. Feel the energy field of your inner body as you listen. That takes attention away from thinking and creates a still space that enables you to truly listen without the mind interfering. You are giving the other person space-space to be. It is the most precious gift you can give. Eckhart Tolle
  • Once we open up to the flow of energy within our body, we can also open up to the flow of energy in the universe. Wilhelm Reich
.

We can connect to divine energy through intention

  • …the basic stuff of the universe, at its core, is looking like a kind of pure energy that is malleable to human intention and expectation in a way that defies our old mechanistic model of the universe–as though our expectation itself causes our energy to flow out into the world and affect other energy systems. James Redfield
  • You are a dynamic being of Light that at each moment informs the energy that flows through you. You do this with each thought, with each intention. Gary Zukav
  • Once you put your attention, your thoughts, your energy, your consciousness on a new intention, that’s what you begin manifesting into your life. Wayne Dyer
  • Where intention goes, energy flows. Denise Linn
  • Every intention sets energy into motion. Whether you are conscious of it or not. Gary Zukav
  • The secret to changing your life is in your intentions. Wishing, hoping and goal setting cannot accomplish change without intention. What is needed is a shift from the inert energy of wanting to the active energy of doing and intention. Wayne Dyer
  • Authentic power is the energy that Is formed by the intentions of the Soul. It is the light shaped by the intentions of love and compassion guided by wisdom. Gary Zukav
  • Intention is not something you do, but rather a force that exists in the universe as an invisible field of energy, a power that can carry us. Wayne Dyer
  • When your intention is great enough you will ALWAYS find the time and energy to accomplish your desires. James Arthur Ray
  • Remember, you are co-creating your life with the energy of your own intentions. Oprah Winfrey
  • …the basic stuff of the universe, at its core, is looking like a kind of pure energy that is malleable to human intention and expectation in a way that defies our old mechanistic model of the universe–as though our expectation itself causes our energy to flow out into the world and affect other energy systems. James Redfield
  • Commitment is the ultimate assertion of human freedom. It releases all the energy you possess and enables you to take quantum leaps in creativity. When you set a one-pointed intention and absolutely refuse to allow obstacles to dissipate the focused quality of your attention, you engage the infinite organizing power of the universe. Deepak Chopra

We can connect to divine energy through attention

  • Attention: a sacred energy coming into me. Be sensitive to it. Recognize again and again that it is there. Michel de Salzmann
  • Where Attention goes Energy flows; Where Intention goes Energy flows! James Redfield
  • Where attention goes, energy flows and results show. Harv Eker
  • Energy flows where attention goes. Michael Beckwith
  • Attention is like energy in that without it no work can be done, and in doing work is dissipated. We create ourselves by how we use this energy. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
  • Attention is psychic energy, and like physical energy, unless we allocate some part of it to the task at hand, no work gets done. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
  • Everything is dependent upon energy. Energy is attention. Attention is awareness. Frederick Lenz

We can connect to divine energy through gratitude

  • Gratitude places you in the energy field of plentitude. Glow with gratitude and see how awe and joy will make their home in you. Michael Beckwith
  • Gratitude places you in the energy field of plentitude. Perceiving life in a consciousness of gratitude is literally stepping into another dimension of living. Suddenly the seeming ordinariness of your days takes on a divine sparkle. Michael Beckwith
  • My Intent today is to expand the flow of abundance through the energy of gratitude. Deepak Chopra
.

We can connect to divine energy through surrender to God

  • Submission to duty and God gives the highest energy. He, who has done the greatest work on earth, said that He came down from heaven, not to do His own will, but the will of Him who sent Him, Whoever allies himself with God is armed with all the forces of the invisible world. James Freeman Clarke
  • By surrendering, you create an energy field of receptivity for the solution to appear. Wayne Dyer
  • The more willing you are to surrender to the energy within you, the more power can flow through you. Shakti Gawain

We can connect to divine energy through joy

  • Ecstasy is the energy of spirit. When life flows, ecstasy is natural. Deepak Chopra
  • The experience of happiness is a direct means of replenishing life energy and revitalizing the mind. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
  • Joy is a very high frequency current of energy with a great deal of energy content. Somebody who is joyful has a lot of energy. Gary Zukav
  • Joy is my energy and energy is my powerhouse. Sara Genn
  • Joy is what we all seek. It is an energy more powerful than food. Akiane Kramarik
  • Energy is eternal delight. William Blake
.

We can connect to divine energy through acceptance

  • When you know that everything happens for the best, then everything that happens is okay with you. The irony of this is that when everything that happens is okay with you, you set up an energy field of such equanimity and harmony with the universe that the universal law of attraction draws more equanimity and harmony into your life. Neale Donald Walsch
.

We can connect to divine energy through kindness

.

We can connect to divine energy through will and desire

  • The greater the will, the greater the flow of energy. Paramahansa Yogananda
  • The key that unlocks energy is desire. It’s also the key to a long and interesting life. If we expect to create any drive, any real force within ourselves, we have to get excited. Earl Nightingale
.

We, in essence, are divine energy

.

We are divine energy…

  • The impersonal energy animating the human apparatus also generates the thoughts with which this apparatus thinks of itself as the responsible source of its activity. In other words, this sense of ‘me’ as a person with volition and responsibility is, in fact, an activity of this impersonal animating energy. Leo Hartong
  • We are this divine energy. It’s not something we have to attain. We just have to realize it, to be present to it. Marshall B. Rosenberg
  • Who you really are is Non-Physical Energy focused in a physical body. Esther Hicks
  • The soul of man is not a thing which comes and goes, is builded and decays like the elemental frame in which it is set to dwell, but a very living force, a very energy of God’s organic will, which rules and moulds this universe. James Anthony Froude
  • This ‘Primal You’ is not the personal character which identifies itself as a body/mind organism. It is the energy that ‘powers’ this whole manifestation. Leo Hartong
  • I cannot prove to you that God exists, but my work has proved empirically that the pattern of God exists in every man and that this pattern in the individual has at its disposal the greatest transforming energies of which life is capable. Find this pattern in your own individual self and life is transformed. Carl Jung
  • At our most elemental, we are not a chemical reaction, but an energetic charge. Human beings and all living things are a coalescence of energy in a field of energy connected to every other thing in the world. This pulsating energy field is the central engine of our being and our consciousness, the alpha and the omega of our existence. Lynne McTaggart
.

…for each of us is a field of energy

  • Everyone and everything that shows up in the world of form in this universe originates not from a particle, as quantum physics teaches us, but from an energy field. Wayne Dyer
  • The spirit for me is the eternal self. And when one incarnates, an aspect comes with that incarnation, that’s called the soul. And together the mind, the emotional body, and the soul form the energy field that lives within this thing called the human body. Caroline Myss
  • When you trace a particle back to its origins, you find that it’s nothing but pure energy. All of us come from this energy field. Wayne Dyer
  • All living things have an aura, a rapidly vibrating, invisible psychic energy field that protects them from toxic, non-physical energies that would otherwise be detrimental to them. Frederick Lenz
  • Lower-frequency energy masquerading as matter; this lower-frequency energy is held in organized patterns by the interpenetrating higher-frequency energy body. Joseph Selbie
.

We can raise our energy field…

  • When you walk into the presence of people who calibrate at the very highest energy levels, just being in their energy field, everything that is diseased or in disharmony is healed. Wayne Dyer
  • Every man now is responsible to create a buddhafield around himself, an energy field that goes on becoming bigger and bigger. Create as many vibrations of laughter, joy, celebration, as possible; dance, sing, let the whole of humanity by and by catch the fire of Zen and the wind of Zen. Rajneesh
  • If you run into a Buddha, then that energy field, the “rad” level is so high, it’s incalculable. Their effect on an individual is for many, many, many, many, many, many lifetimes. Frederick Lenz
.

…which benefits the whole

  • Every thought, action, decision, or feeling creates an eddy in the interlocking, inter-balancing energy fields of life. In this interconnected universe, every improvement we make in our private world improves the world at large for everyone. David R. Hawkins
.

Each of us has an energy body…

  • Further confirming the presence of life force, there are individuals, often called clairvoyants or intuitives, who can “see” the energy body. They perceive the energy body as a multicolored aura that surrounds and suffuses the physical body. Joseph Selbie
  • Any change in a person’s feelings, thoughts, and health is immediately apparent in the energy body. Joseph Selbie
  • Mystics describe their experiences of their energy body as sacred. Joseph Selbie
  • Learning to more deeply perceive and then control the subtle energy body is the first step on the journey to attaining the stillness and inner absorption that are essential to transcendent experience. Joseph Selbie
  • A subtle spiritual mechanism is hidden just behind the bodily structure. Sri Yukteswar
  • We already inhabit our energy-body. We feel and interact with our energy-body all the time—not just when we die. We feel it and experience it at every moment, even though we can’t perceive it directly with our physical senses. Our energy body is the source of our life-energy, our feelings, our likes and dislikes, our motivations. The energy-body is the source of most of what we think of as ourselves. It is constantly, dynamically, and integrally us. Joseph Selbie
  • Our physical body is controlled, sustained, and created, moment by moment, by our energy body. Quantum entanglement of our energy body with our physical liquid-crystal tissues is the bridge that allows the holo-graphic information contained in our energy-body to affect the physical body. Joseph Selbie
  • We inhabit simultaneously our local three-dimensional physical bodies and our nonlocal interpenetrating, two-dimensional energy bodies. When we feel our life force, our vitality, we are feeling the subtle energies of our interpenetrating, nonlocal two-dimensional energy bodies. Joseph Selbie
  • Our energy body is constantly with us. It animates, controls, and continuously creates our physical body. Joseph Selbie
  • The dying often have the sensation of rising up and floating above their own body while it is surrounded by a medical team, and watching it down below, while feeling comfortable. They experience the feeling of being in a spiritual body that appears to be a sort of living energy field. Raymond Moody
  • I can tell you that anything that happens in the physical body will happen in the pattern of the energy fields first. Barbara Brennen
  • Our physical body is the result of the invisible organization of energy; change the organization of the energy, no matter how fast, and you change the physical body just as fast. Joseph Selbie
.

…an energy body that is a holographic projection

  • Like the universe, our physical body is an ultra-high definition holographic projection.  Joseph Selbie
  • Like the universe, our physical body is being continuously created according to the information in our own unique holographic energy template. Joseph Selbie
  • The energy realm contains the holographic template for the physical realm and thus contains the information that determines all physical properties and behavior. Joseph Selbie
  • Our local, three-dimensional physical bodies are the holographic projections of our nonlocal, two-dimensional holographic energy bodies. Our two-dimensional energy bodies are the source of most of what we experience as ourselves—our awareness, feelings, motivations, memories, and life-energy. Joseph Selbie
  • What we think—we become. Our nonlocal, intelligent consciousness shapes our nonlocal, two-dimensional holographic energy template. Our nonlocal, two- dimensional holographic energy template, in turn, shapes our physical body. Our local, three-dimensional physical body is continuously sustained and controlled by our nonlocal, shaped-by-thought two-dimensional energy body via the bridge of quantum entanglement.  Joseph Selbie
.

At death, we simply shift frequency back to the energy body

  • Physical death is the withdrawal of the invisible organization of energy from the physical body. When the influence of the template-like holographic energy-body is withdrawn, the physical body loses its coordinated entangled coherence with its holographic energy body. Joseph Selbie
  • We cannot truly die. Our three-dimensional physical body allows us to exist in the three-dimensional physical world of space, time, and matter—like a deep-sea diver wearing a suit that allows him to survive deep underwater. When we die, our space, time, and matter suit ceases to function, and we are no longer able to operate in space, time, and matter. When we die our awareness shifts to our nonlocal, two-dimensional energy body in the energy-verse.  Joseph Selbie
  • The idea that we exist simultaneously in multiple realms also opens the door for science to understand how there can be life after death. Joseph Selbie
  • Even when the physical body stops functioning, however, our energy-body continues to exist. Think of your physical body as a sock puppet. When the hand is withdrawn from the sock, the sock puppet “dies,” but the hand that was inside the puppet continues to exist. Our nonlocal, interpenetrating energy-body is the hand within the sock puppet. Joseph Selbie
  • You shift frequencies in dying. You switch over to life on another wavelength. You are still a spot on the dial but you move up or down a notch or two. You don’t die when you die. You shift your consciousness and speed of vibration. That’s all death is . . . a shift. M.H. Atwater
  • In this way, our lives in this plane of existence are encompassed, surrounded, by the afterworld already. . . . The body dies but the spiritual quantum field continues. In this way, I am immortal. Hans-Peter Dürr
  • Death is only the loss of our physical body, the shedding of a suit of clothes that covers the energy-body; it is not the end of our existence. Once the physical body dies, we adjust to being aware of our energy-body only. And once we are beyond the confining limitations of our physical body— as the saints, sages, and near-death experiencers all testify—we will experience a freedom and awareness unlike anything that can be experienced through the physical body.  Joseph Selbie
  • Death, as the saints, sages, and near-death experiencers tell us, is only a shift from sensory awareness of our physical body to a more complete and more subtle awareness of our ever-present energy body. Joseph Selbie
  • Forever is longer than you know. Eternal is longer than Forever. God is more than you imagine. God is the energy you call imagination. God is creation. God is first thought. And God is last experience. And God is everything in between.  Neale Donald Walsch

Divine energy and awareness are intimately connected

  • Awareness of an all-pervading mysterious energy articulated in the infinite variety of natural phenomena seems to be the primordial experience of human consciousness, awakening to an awesome universe filled with mysterious power. Thomas Berry
  • Consciousness is the nonlinear Radiance of Divine Energy that is the substrate of all that exists. David R. Hawkins
  • Energy and consciousness are in a continual state of interaction: energy is shaped and directed by consciousness which is itself driven by energy. John Pierrakos
  • Everything is dependent upon energy. Energy is attention. Attention is awareness. Frederick Lenz
  • I think all religions can agree on certain definitions of God and concepts of God, like God being the god of love, the great ‘I am’ energy. Vera Farmiga
  • Our energy and your awareness are directly connected. If your energies are intense, your awareness naturally grows and sharpens. Jaggi Vasudev
  • When your consciousness becomes a still mirror, a still lake, a silent reservoir of energy, God is reflected in it. Rajneesh
  • Shamanism is a state of awareness, the ability to use energy fields that are not employed in perceiving the everyday-life world that we know. Carlos Castaneda
.

Kundalini is divine energy that creates awareness

  • Power is the active force in life. It is the force that makes awareness. The general term for spiritual power is kundalini. Kundalini is the energy of life that creates awareness. Frederick Lenz
  • The power that enables us to transform our awareness is the release of kundalini. All yoga, either directly or indirectly, all Buddhism, relates to the release of the kundalini energy. Frederick Lenz
  • The primary energy that is active in all things is kundalini. Kundalini energy is the energy of awareness. It can be used to modify awareness. Frederick Lenz
.

Expanded awareness allows divine energy to flow

  • When your awareness is contracted, the flow of energy and information throughout your body mind is hampered. You tend to stay stuck in toxic emotions such as regret, resentment, and self-pity. Deepak Chopra
  • Consciousness regulates and becomes the flow of energy and information in your body, your relationships, and your world. Deepak Chopra
  • When you expand your awareness, your energy flows freely. You’re more flexible, balanced, and creative. You view yourself and the world with more compassion and understanding. You have more energy and are open to new possibilities. Deepak Chopra
.

Where awareness goes, energy flows

  • Everything is dependent upon energy. Energy is attention. Attention is awareness. Frederick Lenz
  • Attention: a sacred energy coming into me. Be sensitive to it. Recognize again and again that it is there. Michel de Salzmann
  • Attention is the key; for where man’s attention goes, there goes his energy, and he himself can only follow. Count of St. Germain
  • We become what we think about. Energy flows where attention goes. Rhonda Byrne

What does God as energy say about God?

.

God as energy is at the heart of reality

  • If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration. Nikola Tesla
  • If we image God as energy, then we imagine the heart of reality, what is most real, as energy. Flora A. Keshgegian
.

God as energy is pure spirit

  • For the atom’s soul is nothing but energy. Spirit blazes in the dullest of clay. The life of every woman or man – the heart of it – is pure and holy joy. George Leonard
  • Perhaps the most “personified” image of God as energy is spirit. The Spirit is one of the “persons” of the Trinity in Christianity and has traditionally been understood as the dynamic power of connection and relationship. Spirit is the energy of the divine: creating, transforming, and empowering. The Spirit itself has traditional images associated with it, such as a bird/dove or wind or fire. These connote freedom as well as strength. The Spirit blows where it wills; it manifests divine presence. Images of the Spirit point to the dynamic, ever moving quality of divine energy that is the source of life. In that sense the Spirit can be imagined as laboring and giving birth. It is ever-making life happen. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Some indigenous religions view the world in similar ways. For them, all life forms contain spirits that both help and hinder human beings. The world, the whole world and everything in it, is alive for the adherents of these religions. In that way these indigenous religions perceive energy as the heart of reality more clearly than the so-called higher religions do. They also recognize that such energy can be violent as well as caring. Religious practices enable participants to relate to these spirits in such a way that life is managed and enhanced. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • The field of the finite is all that we can see, hear, touch, remember, and describe. This field is basically that which is manifest, or tangible. The essential quality of the infinite, by contrast, is its subtlety, its intangibility. This quality is conveyed in the word spirit, whose root meaning is “wind, or breath.” This suggests an invisible but pervasive energy, to which the manifest world of the finite responds. This energy, or spirit, infuses all living beings, and without it any organism must fall apart into its constituent elements. That which is truly alive in the living being is this energy of spirit, and this is never born and never dies. David Bohm
  • When we say God is a spirit, we know what we mean, as well as we do when we say that the pyramids of Egypt are matter. Let us be content, therefore, to believe him to be a spirit, that is, an essence that we know nothing of, in which originally and necessarily reside all energy, all power, all capacity, all activity, all wisdom, all goodness. John Adams
  • In the Christian tradition, the life force is sometimes referred to as the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit. Joseph Selbie
  • Spirit is the essence of consciousness, the energy of the universe that creates all things. Each one of us is a part of that spirit – a divine entity. So the spirit is the higher self, the eternal being that lives within us. Shakti Gawain
.

God as energy is infinitely dynamic

  • Energy is a dynamic quantity associated with activity, or with processes. Fritjof Capra
  • Although there are resources in the Bible for imagining God as energy, these are far fewer than other images of God, especially those that see God as person. More resources might be found in the theological and philosophical traditions, but even then there is a need, as I have argued, to shift from views of being as static and unchanging to fully dynamic perspectives on existence. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Because energy is dynamic, ever changing and causing change, what is most real about the universe is dynamism and change. Change is fundamental to reality. Nothing is fixed. Nothing remains the same. Change is also constant. The universe is anything but static. It is alive as pulsating, continuous motion. Such motion is also connecting, making whatever happens happen, but not in any way that is fixed or given. What follows then is that the really real is ultimately indeterminate. Indeterminacy suggests that there is no inherent directionality or directing purpose. There is no determinism. Chance and chaos are built into existence. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • God as energy for life celebrates, values, and honors life as a dynamic process in which everyone and everything participates. In the beginning and end is life. The whole universe is alive, as is everything in it. Divine energy animates all. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • If we image God as energy, then we imagine the heart of reality, what is most real, as energy. Energy is the dynamic, driving force within all that exists. It is potential and possibility, power and movement. Energy is ever in motion and indeterminate. It is not observable in and of itself. When scientists study energy or try to measure energy, what they perceive and observe are its effects or interactions. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • In this view of God, change is not only a part of God, but it is the very nature of the divine. What is most true of God is constant dynamism, as was the case in my vision of points of light, ever moving. Such motion does not pursue a set direction, a given path. It is indeterminate. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Unlike the deity of most traditions, my God is not eternal but emergent: that process of continuous creation, which is the cosmic drama. Each of us is a participant, playing a bit part, improvising, responding to others, inventing the action from moment to moment. God, in my metaphor, is neither the author nor the stage manager, but the energy of the actors in the dialogue. Ann Fields
.

God as energy is in a constant state of motion and flux

  • Since everything is interrelated and everything affects everything else, change is always happening, energy is constantly moving and producing effects. Our actions, even our breathing, move energy, whether we are conscious of the movement or not. Prayer and worship involve paying attention to that energy in a way we do not in every moment of our lives. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • The divine as energy for life is not fixed in any way. The divine itself is changing and so not determined or given.  God as energy is ever in motion and flux. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • There is this mysterious energy that wants us to keep growing. Michele Cassou
  • Life always delivers the creative energy you need to change into the new thing you must become. Rob Brezsny
  • From this chief limitation flow several others. For those seeking comfort or support, a God of indeterminacy and constant motion may seem too challenging or even disturbing. Especially in times of need, many of us prefer to imagine God’s loving embrace or even the solidity of God as rock. Flora A. Keshgegian
.

God as energy is eternal…

  • I existed before I received this body. I am the external and fundamental life energy of the universe. Ilchi Lee
  • I seem to be a brief light that flashes but once in all the aeons of time—a rare, complicated, and all-too-delicate organism on the fringe of biological evolution, where the wave of life bursts into individual, sparkling, and multicolored drops that gleam for a moment only to vanish forever. Under such conditioning it seems impossible and even absurd to realize that myself does not reside in the drop alone, but in the whole surge of energy which ranges from the galaxies to the nuclear fields in my body. At this level of existence “I” am immeasurably old; my forms are infinite and their comings and goings are simply the pulses or vibrations of a single and eternal flow of energy. Alan Watts
  • The driving force of the universe is life ongoing. Nothing is lost in creation, but nothing remains the same. This view allows for reimagining traditional concepts such as resurrection and eternal life, not as the continuation of distinct selves as ego centers, but as transformation into energy for life. Flora A. Keshgegian
.

…for energy never perishes

  • Energy Is Conserved. All the energy that currently exists in the universe is all that ever has been and all that ever will be. Energy is neither created nor destroyed though it can be transformed into mass (and vice versa).  This is known as mass-energy equivalence, and every schoolchild knows the equation that describes it: E = mc2.  Peter Atkins
  • In physics, energy is the quantitative property that must be transferred to an object in order to perform work on, or to heat, the object. Energy is a conserved quantity; the law of conservation of energy states that energy can be converted in form, but not created or destroyed. Wikipedia
  • Just as there is no loss of basic energy in the universe, so no thought or action is without its effects, present or ultimate, seen or unseen, felt or unfelt. Norman Cousins
  • Matter converts to energy. Energy forms into matter. But in the process, there is no loss, only change. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • When energy is converted from passive to active energy, it is transmuted to other materials or changed to other forms. Transmission/transmutation of the forms of energy are a continuing process of the material universe. Dr. Norma Milanovich & Dr. Shirley McCain
  • Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another. Albert Einstein
.

God as energy is the creator of all order

  • Entropy is a measure of disorder, and the Second Law of Thermodynamics states that all closed systems tend to maximize entropy. Reversing this ever increasing tendency toward disorder requires the input of energy. That’s why housekeeping is so tiresome. Left on its own, your house would get dusty, spiders would move in, and eventually, it would fall apart. However, the energy put into preventing disorder in one place simultaneously increases it somewhere else. Overall, the entropy of the universe always increases. Peter Atkins
  • I believe God is a name we give to the mystery of the world that is beyond our capacity to understand. I believe that the energy of the universe is ordered by forces I cannot comprehend. Robert Jensen
.

God as energy is both transcendent and imminent

  • We can also say that God as energy is fully transcendent, totally other than us, precisely because God does not exist like anything that we know exists. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Ultimately the notions of immanence and transcendence seem to strain at their definitional seams, especially when they are held to be opposites. Just as we now know matter and energy are in relationship and fundamentally united, immanence and transcendence are perhaps best understood in relation. Flora A. Keshgegian
.

God as energy does not point to a personal God

  • Most people prefer to relate to a personal God. God as energy for life seems too abstract, too unknowable, too unimaginable. It feels too impersonal. When we pray, we want an “other” to address. Even images of light or spirit remain too abstract. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Even if god is energy there is no way of proving that energy has agency, let alone cares about humans, what they eat on what days, what they wear, what they say, who they sleep with and in what position. Casey Handmer
  • If there is a God, I want to see Him, not only His energy or His light, but Him. George Harrison
  • “God is energy” is yet another attempt to get permission to use the word God by changing the meaning so much that it becomes irrelevant. What the vast majority of people mean by God is some powerful entity with some interest in humans and some power to affect human lives or afterlives.  Any entity whose existence does not lead us to do something different from that which we would otherwise do is not, by most people’s understanding, God. Alec Cawley
.

Some argue God as energy does not point to God as inherently good or moral…

  • Attributes such as “moral” and “good” tend to be ascribed to persons and personal agents. If God is not person, if the divine does not act agentially, then what is the meaning of such attributes? In what sense can we talk about energy as moral or even good? Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Energy is power. The dynamism of energy is powerful. Since energy is at the core of all that is, we might even say it is absolute power. Such power, the dynamism of energy, is not moral, however. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Even when it comes to power, the moral dualism inherent in our common worldview is difficult to overcome. We tend to think in terms of good power and bad power. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • God as energy is like a river rather than a moral agent. The power of God as energy just is. This power makes life possible and enables life to go on, but the indeterminacy of the universe, the complexity of life in creation, and the multitude of interactions of life in human society result in what are experienced as clashes and conflicts, failures and disasters that cause harm and death for species, societies, and even civilizations. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • God as energy is not moral as we generally understand that term. Categories of good and evil cannot be applied straightforwardly to energy. The worldview of moral dualism does not work in the world of energy. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Imagine the power of a river, Would we call the raging river evil or bad? Would we call the gently flowing river good? The river simply is being a river, its own power, dynamism, and nature in interaction with the atmosphere and weather and other factors of terrain and environment. The river is ever changing, ever in motion. Its intent, if we can speak of intent, is to flow, to be river. Harm is not intended, but it does happen. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Power is potential energy. It is motion. Such energy may cause harm or do good along the way, but its nature is neither. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • This metaphor for the divine might also breed a type of ethical passivity. Should we not accept whatever life offers us if there is no direction or ultimate resolution to guide our way? How are we to discern and know when to accept things and when to act? On what basis would we make ethical judgments and take action? Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Those of us embedded in a worldview of moral dualism may well recoil from such ideas. We are so used to thinking in terms of putting everything into categories of good and evil, that if someone suggests that God is not good, then our immediate response is to think that makes God evil, and that just cannot be. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • The consciousness and life force do what they want…one minute they put energy to repairing the damaged wing of a butterfly and the next minute they send a whole town crushing with tremendous force… who can work it out? Mooji
  • Every sin is the distortion of an energy breathed into us – an energy which, if not thus distorted, would have blossomed into one of those holy acts whereof ‘God did it’ and ‘I did it’ are both true descriptions. S. Lewis
.

…which some might struggle with

  • Yet others would argue that the goodness of God is essential to Christianity and a form of moral dualism is necessary to viewing God as good. They would find the emphasis on power, especially as it is redefined, theologically and ethically problematic. God’s power has to be good. Any other understanding of God means that God is not God. Flora A. Keshgegian
.

Others argue God as energy is good because it supports life which is inherently good

  • God is not good per se, but because we experience life as a good thing and God as energy makes life possible, we perceive God as good. We are glad to be alive, glad to be part of the universe. We give thanks to the God of life. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • In the story of creation in Genesis, when God looked upon creation and declared it good, this was not a moral judgment. God’s voiced judgment was an aesthetic one, a comment of appreciation, even of enjoyment. It is good that creation exists, just as it is good to be alive. Creation as the product of divine energy is to be valued and appreciated. God is not good per se, but because we experience life as a good thing and God as energy makes life possible, we perceive God as good. We are glad to be alive, glad to be part of the universe. We give thanks to the God of life. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • We can imagine God as energy as having a kind of intent. The inclination of that intent is for life, to enable life, and keep life going. It may follow then that goodness and even love, as ascribed to God, are functions of God as source and energy for life. In other words, it is not so much that God loves, since love is a human, and perhaps animal, emotion, but we can say that the but we can say that the life that God as energy makes possible is experienced as love. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Without energy life would be extinguished instantaneously, and the cellular fabric would collapse. Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
  • Life rejuvenates and acquires energy when it multiplies: It is enriched, not impoverished. Pope Francis
  • Energy is the basis of life itself. Theodore Levitt
  • Energy is that amazing feeling that comes to life inside of you when you’re happy and believe in yourself. Richard Simmons
  • Energy is the essence of life. Oprah Winfrey

God as energy points to a God without will

  • God as energy does not direct nor will what happens in the world to happen. This God is not an agent. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • God as energy does not will what happens in our lives, nor in nature, other than to energize for life. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • This vibrant, pulsating display of energy has no purpose beyond itself, and in this very purposelessness lies its infinite delight. Leo Hartong
  • Though divine energy is life producing, it does not direct life in any given way or toward a given end. God as energy cannot be said to have a will per se. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Willing connotes directed intent, even determination. It would seem to be the opposite of the indeterminacy and nondirecting dynamism of God as energy. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • A related concern would be the non-directionality of divine action. If God does not will, if everything is indeterminate, then are we not all simply adrift in the world, with nothing to count on and nothing to guide our way? Guide may be the key word here. How can God as indeterminate, dynamic energy guide us when we are looking for answers and for direction? Flora A. Keshgegian
  • If God does not will or if God’s will is not directing, and if God’s nature is not given, the foundations that many have counted on for support and direction, including for ethical action, seem to be gone. Although the lack of foundations is consonant with a postmodern worldview, it is disconcerting for many people. How can God be God if God is not in charge? It seems unimaginable. Flora A. Keshgegian

God as energy points to no final resolution

  • There is no final victory as promised in the dualistic worldview. There is no completion. The future remains open ended. Flora A. Keshgegian
.

God as energy points to the force of the Feminine

  • The energy that moves life is the force of the Feminine. She is unstoppable. She is the source of all life, the mover of blood, the breather of breath, the flow of the river’s water. The Feminine is life. We can feel Her moving and living in any moment we are open to Her, or as Her. David Deida
  • Women have a connection to life force and nurturing. They have a connection that men don’t have. It doesn’t mean one’s better or more important, it’s just a difference. Peter Buffett

Some pros of this metaphor

.

God as energy is a metaphor that will work for some but not for others

  • The concept of God can be very interfering for some and very opening for others. There are many people who say it’s not God, or a personal God, but it’s an energy, it’s a force, it’s a unifying conceptualization of the universe. For some people it can be a very positive, and a beneficial way of looking at things. But then for others it can get in the way. It depends to a large extent on how one defines what God is especially if it becomes exclusive and a hate filling definition. Andrew B. Newberg
.

God as energy can lead to fresh reinterpretations

  • If we view God as energy, the question arises: do we not lose the specificity of Christian images of God and especially the Christian emphasis on incarnation and materiality? I would argue that understanding God as energy lends itself easily to fresh reinterpretations of central Christian concepts, but others might disagree. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • The metaphor of God as energy for life allows us to imagine God in ways that more personal and concrete metaphors do not allow. It affords us different insight into the divine, as well as into the nature of the universe. Flora A. Keshgegian
.

God as energy takes us out of our human centredness

  • This metaphor of divine energy does not privilege the human person as the supreme image of God. In that way it expands our perspective and may take us out of our human-centeredness. Flora A. Keshgegian
.

God as energy is a metaphor that modern science can relate to

  • I see it as working better in our world today. It seems more consonant with the worldview of postmodernity, the findings of contemporary science, and the realities of life in a global and pluralistic society. For all those reasons it seems more appropriate and fitting than the hierarchical and even relational and person-centered metaphors. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Understanding God as energy is more consonant with what we know today, from scientists and others, about the nature of the universe and how it works. God as energy fits with quantum theory as does interconnectivity as the expression of that energy. Just as metaphors of monarchy and patriarchy made sense in and reflected the ancient and premodern world, images of God as energy connect with the scientific world of today. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Right now people think God is dark energy and dark matter, the spirit. Go ahead and think that, but the day we can tell you exactly what it is – that it’s gremlins in the vacuum of space or whatever – then what’s your recourse at that point? Neil deGrasse Tyson
.

God as energy provides a more universal understanding of God

  • They are also more fitting for the socially global and religiously pluralistic world we inhabit. Energy is everywhere and can take many forms. Divine energy may be manifest in and through a variety of religious expressions. The “truth” of Christianity shares the stage with other religions. Understanding God as energy makes it possible to relate to and appreciate the rituals and expressions of other religions, each with its own way to connect with divine energy. Flora A. Keshgegian
  • When I talk about God, I’m not necessarily talking about religion. To me, God is the energy and light that each of us carries. Juanes
.

However, some may find it hard to imagine God as energy

  • My experience illustrates the challenges we face in imaging God as other than person and, more specifically, as energy. Are we willing and able to expand our imaginations to entertain ideas about God that may seem more unfamiliar than those we have encountered thus far? Flora A. Keshgegian
  • Perhaps that is the fundamental limitation of this image of God: It is so different from what many of us have been schooled in for most of our lives. We may find it difficult to imagine the divine in this way and that may well makes us uneasy. Incorporating God as energy into our lives, our worship and our way of being in the world may present quite a challenge. Flora A. Keshgegian

  • And God said, ‘Let there be light’ and there was light, but the Electricity Board said He would have to wait until Thursday to be connected. Spike Milligan

Questions

  • What if God isn’t all powerful but is simply ALL power?
  • If God and energy are the same thing, why not just call it energy?
  • How can God be energy if energy has no sentience or intention?
  • If it were true that God is energy, what of it? What do I do differently?
