William J. Clinton
- Oh, Life’s richest Treasures are not over seas, but here, every day, close at hand. - We must do more than speak the truth.. We must also hear truth. We must also receive truth. We must also act upon truth. We must also search for truth. The difficult truth Within us and around us. - A wise man once said that all human activity is a form of play. And the highest form of play is the search for Truth, Beauty and Love. What more is needed? Should there be a ‘meaning’ as well, that will be a bonus? If we waste time looking for life’s meaning, we may have no time to live — or to play. Arthur C. Clarke
- The search for truth is, as it always has been, the noblest expression of the human spirit. Man’s insatiable desire for knowledge about himself, about his environment and the forces by which he is surrounded, gives life its meaning and purpose, and clothes it with final dignity…. And yet we know, deep in our hearts, that knowledge is not enough…. Unless we can anchor our knowledge to moral purposes, the ultimate result will be dust and ashes- dust and ashes that will bury the hopes and monuments of men beyond recovery. Raymond B. Fosdick

We are lucky to live in a universe were there are laws of nature and things to discover, but they’re not impossibly difficult, so we can understand them to some extent. But they’re also difficult enough so that we’re nowhere near understanding them all. There are exhilarating discoveries yet to be made. It’s the best possible world. Carl Sagan

- There is one purpose to life and one only: to bear witness to and understand as much as possible of the complexity of the world — its beauty, its mysteries, its riddles. The more you understand, the more you look, the greater is your enjoyment of life and your sense of peace. That’s all there is to it. Everything else is fun and games. If an activity is not grounded in “to love” or “to learn” it does not have value. Anne Rice
.
…and a lesson to be learned
- Rule Number One is this: If you’re open to learning, you get your life-lessons delivered as gently as the tickle of a feather. The search for truth is akin to a treasure hunt

- Oh, Life’s richest Treasures are not over seas, but here, every day, close at hand. Vast Treasures of Knowledge are ours to enjoy, are ours to search out and attain; and Words, Colours, Harmonics we can employ to make lovely Treasures again. And Treasures there are, like—A walk with a friend; a garden; the spire of a church… our Life is a Treasure-Hunt right to the end, if only we’d join in the search! Marjorie G. Hellier

- Life is a treasure hunt. We are all searching for something that will make life worth living. Many a man in this modern world feels like a castaway on disappointment island, surrounded by those demons distrust and despair, depression, and disaster. Little does he guess that almost at his side lies a hidden treasure.
- All life is a treasure hunt; and it is a wise heart that can become “as a little child;” can find happiness in shells and sand; can use the simple, common things of every day for pleasure; and play the game of either labor or leisure, irrespective of rewards.
- The Word of God is a treasure map. That treasure map is the most valuable thing you have until you get to that treasure. Eric Ludy

Life leaves many clues along the way in our quest for truth…

- You may be living under the illusion that when God ignites great things in your life, He’ll announce it with a big bang. He might. It’s more likely that He won’t. So stop waiting around for the big bang. Pay attention to the subtle clues and the still, small voice. God lives in that place too. Steven Furtick
- Throughout life, we get clues that remind us of the direction we are supposed to be headed if you stay focused, then you learn your lessons. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
- If there is a god, he is not only a wizard at leaving clues behind. More than anything, he’s a master of concealment. Jostein Gaarder
- Isn’t the small and common the field we live our life in? The large comes into a life through small-paned windows. A breath is small, but everything depends on it. A person looks at you a single, brief moment longer than is necessary, and everything is changed. The smaller the clue, the larger the meaning, it sometimes feels. Jane Hirshfield
- Life compulsively dangled the possibility of life. Life, the dramatist on speed. Life, that couldn’t stop with its foreshadows and ironies and symbols and clues, its wretched jokes and false endings and twists. Life with its hopeless addiction to plot. Glen Duncan
- Maybe it’s all utterly meaningless. Maybe it’s all unutterably meaningful. If you want to know which, pay attention to what it means to be truly human in a world that half the time we’re in love with and half the time scares the hell out of us. Any fiction that helps us pay attention to that is religious fiction. The unexpected sound of your name on somebody’s lips. The good dream. The strange coincidence. The moment that brings tears to your eyes. The person who brings life to your life. Even the smallest events hold the greatest clues. Frederick Buechner
- Our present world contains clues…to another world-a world which we can begin to experience now, but will only know in all its fullness at the end of things. Alister E. McGrath

This means that there is “harmony, agreement and correspondence” between the physical, mental and spiritual realms. There is no separation since everything in the Universe, including you, originates from the One Source. The same pattern is expressed on all planes of existence from the smallest electron to the largest star and vice versa. All is One. The Ancient Greek Temple of Apollo at Delphi was referring to this great Law of Correspondence in the inscription “Know thyself and thou shalt know all the mysteries of the gods and the Universe”. Tania Kotsos
- As above, so below; as below so above. The Kybalion
- The created world, below, is depicted as a reflection of God, above. They are the same yet mirror opposites. By understanding the image in the mirror you can learn about the original. Catherine Beyer

And it’s paralogically complementary to the message of spirituality, which also teaches that if we look beyond the superficial appearances a deeper reality is revealed. Tim Freke
- All nature is a vast symbolism: Every material fact has sheathed within it a spiritual truth. Edwin Powell Hubble
- God’s nature is dimly reflected in the nature of his creation, and that’s something we ought to expect if God is the Creator. When we begin by saying that “God’s nature is reflected in…” we are first acknowledging that our observations of the temporal, material world can only give us limited information about an eternal, immaterial God. Warner
- God organized nature in certain ways to teach us about who he is. Ryan Hawkins
- See God illustrated in nature. And when you do so, you don’t have to think that you’re summoning something up on our own. You instead can know that you’re digging into glories in nature that God purposefully put there to show us himself. Ryan Hawkins

There are many paths to truth
- One truth, many paths. Swami Satchidananda
- There is no one true religion, each religion has its truths and there are many paths we can choose to take that will lead us to to God. Jack Preston King

- The search for truth takes you where the evidence leads you, even if, at first, you don’t want to go there. Bart D. Ehrman
- If we had absolute proof instead of clues, then you could no more deny God than you could deny the sun. If we had no evidence at all, you could never get there. God gives us just enough evidence so that those who want him can have him. Peter Kreeft

- Truth lies at the confluence of independent streams of evidence. Karl Deutsch
- Power is not sufficient evidence of truth. Samuel Johnson

It’s a search, a quest, an investigation, a continual process of looking at and looking for evidence, trying to figure out what the evidence means. Errol Morris
.
… through the use of the senses…
- In the search for truth – that everything in nature seems to hide – man needs the assistance of all his faculties. All the senses should be awake. Robert Green Ingersoll

…through investigation, observation and experimentation…
- Heresies are experiments in man’s unsatisfied search for truth. G. Wells
- Experiment is the sole source of truth. Henri Poincare
- By means of personal experimentation and observation, we can discover certain simple and universal truths. The mind moves the body, and the body follows the mind. Logically then, negative thought patterns harm not only the mind but also the body. What we actually do builds up to affect the subconscious mind and in turn affects the conscious mind and all reactions. E Davey
- The ultimate arbiter of truth is experiment, not the comfort one derives from one’s a priori beliefs, nor the beauty or elegance one ascribes to one’s theoretical models. Lawrence M. Krauss

.
…through self-examination…
- What does a life of total dedication to truth mean? It means, first of all, a life of continuous and never-ending stringent self-examination. We know the world only through our relationship to it. Therefore, to know the world, we must not only examine it but we must simultaneously examine the examiner. M. Scott Peck
- Some might say that looking inside of ourselves for spiritual truths is egocentric and selfish, and that egolessness and selflessness lie in working for others in the world. But until we find our inner truth, our work in the world will always revolve around our ‘selves’. As long as we think about the world in terms of ‘self’ and ‘others’, our actions will be selfish. Our ‘self’ follows us wherever we go, so positive results will be limited. Tarthang Tulku

Once you see the truth, the thought lets go of you, not the other way around. ~ Byron Katie

.
…through cooperation…
- The search for truth is a cooperative, unending endeavor. We can, and should, engage in it to the extent we can and encourage others to do so as well, seeking to free ourselves from constraints imposed by coercive institutions, dogma, irrationality, excessive conformity and lack of initiative and imagination, and numerous other obstacles. - Life is perpetually creative because it contains in itself that surplus which ever overflows the boundaries of the immediate time and space, restlessly pursuing its adventure of expression in the varied forms of self-realization. Rabindranath Tagore
- Man is the individualised expression or reflection of God imaged forth and made manifest in bodily form. How is it, then, I hear it asked, that man has the limitations that he has, that he is subject to fears and forebodings, that he is liable to sin and error, that he is the victim of disease and suffering? There is but one reason. He is not living, except in rare cases here and there, in the conscious realisation of his own true Being, and hence of his own true Self. Ralph Waldo Trine
- Only after Self-Realisation and only then, is there a direct experience of the Spirit. It then manifests its powers in the human personality, and it’s light enlightens the consciousness into a new awareness. The Divine intelligence of the Spirit radiates on all sides. Nirmala Srivastava
- After Self-Realisation it is easy to perceive the truth that all these religions were born on the same tree of spirituality, but that those in charge of each religion plucked the flowers from the living source and are now fighting each other with the dead flowers of merely partial truths. ~ Nirmala Srivastava”

… and through intuition
- Intuition is the innate ability in everyone to perceive truth directly – not by reason, logic, or analysis, but by a simple knowing from within. That is the very meaning of the word “intuition”: to know, or understand from within – from one’s own self, and from the heart of whatever one is trying to understand. Intuition is the inner ability to see behind the outer forms of things to their inner essence. Donald Walters

For a moment you might even touch eternity; who can say otherwise, when time itself is supendend in the clearing that great art creates in your awareness? Ken Wilber

- Scientific, like spiritual truth, has ever from the beginning been descending from heaven to man. Benjamin Disraeli
- Science, almost from its beginnings, has been truly international in character. National prejudices disappear completely in the scientist’s search for truth. Irving Langmuir
- Scientists search for truth. Philosophers search for morality. A criminal trial searches for only one result: proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Alan Dershowitz
- Science is the search for truth, that is the effort to understand the world: it involves the rejection of bias, of dogma, of revelation, but not the rejection of morality. Linus Pauling

- The purpose of scientific method is to select a single truth from among many hypothetical truths. That, more than anything else, is what science is all about. But historically science has done exactly the opposite. Through multiplication upon multiplication of facts, information, theories and hypotheses, it is science itself that is leading mankind from single absolute truths to multiple indeterminate, relative ones. Robert M. Pirsig
- The real truth about a lot of life’s mysteries can be explained by science but people don’t want to get in bed with science because it’s cold. They prefer religion, myth, drama. David Duchovny

In a spiritual sense, ideology and dogma almost always get in the way of truth
- He attempted to ensure that no “system of thought” would define him, since he believed that no philosophy can fully express the truth. Written about Rajneesh
- Dogmas–religious, political, scientific–arise out of erroneous belief that thought can encapsulate reality or truth. Dogmas are collective conceptual prisons. - The truth you believe and cling to makes you unavailable to hear anything new. Pema Chodron
- Every religion is true one way or another. It is true when understood metaphorically. But when it gets stuck in its own metaphors, interpreting them as facts, then you are in trouble. Joseph Campbell

- Many a doctrine is like a window pane. We see truth through it but it divides us from truth. Kahlil Gibran

- Truth has never been, can never be, contained in any one creed or system. Mary Augusta Ward
- Every truth in this world stretched beyond its limits will become a false doctrine. P. Yohannan
- Dogma is often the corruption of someone else’s spiritual experience. Belief systems are often the enemy of the very spiritual truths they supposedly uphold. Most religious beliefs are not merely the foe of reason, of science. They are the enemy of God; not the man-made tyrant in the sky, but the very source of life, love, and truth. They are the enemy of spiritual understanding that would otherwise flow through us like the blood that circulates through our veins. Dogmatic presuppositions, drummed into our heads from infancy are like security blankets that shroud us in relative ignorance, and chain us to our beast-like tendencies. We are capable of much more. So much more. Beau Porden
- The Buddha spoke gently, “Once a person is caught by belief in a doctrine, one loses all one’s feedom. When one becomes dogmatic, that person believes his or her doctrine is the only truth and that all other doctrines are heresy. Disputes and conflicts all arise from narrow views. They can extend endlessly, wasting precious time and sometimes even leading to war. Attachment to views is the greatest impediment to the spiritual path. Bound to narrow views, one becomes so entangled that it is no longer possible to let the door of truth open. Thich Nhat Hanh
.
Scientific and spiritual truth can be complementary
- True science, so far from being an enemy to religious truth, will always stand as the mediator in the ever-pending conflict between religious faith and human reason. S. West

- Science and religion, religion and science, put it as I may, they are two sides of the same glass, through which we see darkly until these two, focusing together, reveal the truth. Pearl Buck
- What is science but the pursuit of the truth? What is Buddhism but 2500 years of observation as to the nature of mind? Wade Davis
.
Science’s pursues objective truth whereas spirituality explores subjective truth
- We ought to remember that religion uses language in quite a different way from science. The language of religion is more closely related to the language of poetry than to the language of science. True, we are inclined to think that science deals with information about objective facts, and poetry with subjective feelings. Hence we conclude that if religion does indeed deal with objective truths, it ought to adopt the same criteria of truth as science. But I myself find the division of the world into an objective and a subjective side much too arbitrary. The fact that religions through the ages have spoken in images, parables, and paradoxes means simply that there are no other ways of grasping the reality to which they refer. But that does not mean that it is not a genuine reality. And splitting this reality into an objective and a subjective side won’t get us very far. Niels Bohr
.

- Morally, a philosopher who uses his professional competence for anything except a disinterested search for truth is guilty of a kind of treachery. Bertrand Russell
- The Greek word for philosopher (philosophos) connotes a distinction from sophos. It signifies the lover of wisdom (knowledge) as distinguished from him who considers himself wise in the possession of knowledge. This meaning of the word still endures: the essence of philosophy is not the possession of the truth but the search for truth. … Philosophy means to be on the way. Its questions are more essential than its answers, and every answer becomes a new question. Karl Jaspers
- Conclusions from observations are unreliable, only the mind can come nearer to to the truth. Thus, in some ways, philosophy is more important than science. Anaxagoras
- Philosophy … must not bargain away anything of the emphatic concept of truth. Theodor W. Adorno

- Philosophy became a gloomy science, in the labyrinth of which people vainly tried to find the exit, called The Truth. Edward Schwartz
- The conception of a new truth, or a new philosophy, must, for a long time, precede its illustration by open argument. Men, in fact, will feel a truth, or a principle, long before they reduce it to speculation; and will gradually grow to think upon it, long before they develop their discoveries by discussion. The earth will thus, as it were, be prepared for the plant before the seed is sown. William Gilmore Simms
- The true philosopher is a brave spirit; dauntless to discover, and bold to declare the truth at all hazard. He feels the inner constraint of his messages, and, as a prophet to his day and generation, he must needs speak, though the whole world cry to him, silence. John Grier Hibben
- Why not let people differ about their answers to the great mysteries of the Universe? Let each seek one’s own way to the highest, to one’s own sense of supreme loyalty in life, one’s ideal of life. We can, and should, engage in it to the extent we can and encourage others to do so as well, seeking to free ourselves from constraints imposed by coercive institutions, dogma, irrationality, excessive conformity and lack of initiative and imagination, and numerous other obstacles. Noam Chomsky
- Truth is the pearl without price. One cannot obtain truth by buying it-all you can do is to strive for spiritual truth and when one is ready, it will be given freely. Nor should spiritual truth be sold, lest the seller be injured spiritually. You lose any spiritual contact the moment you commercialize it. Those who have the truth would not be packaging and selling it, so anyone who is selling it, really does not possess it. Peace Pilgrim

- The senses alone are not implicitly to be depended on. We must correct their evidence by reason, and by considerations, derived from the nature of the medium, the distance of the object, and the disposition of the organ, in order to render them, within their sphere, the proper criteria of truth and falsehood. David Hume
.

Reminding us, that the universe does not exist to fulfill our expectations. Because we are imperfect beings who are self-blinded to the truth of the world’s stunning complexity, we shave reality to paper thin theories and ideologies that we can easily grasp – and we call them truths. Neale Donald Walsch
- No philosophy can fully express the truth. Rajneesh
.
Absolute truth exists beyond our physical world of apparent matter and therefore transcends science

Awareness (the fact I am aware of being aware) is the only indisputably truth
- Make no mistake: whatever I say—whatever its impact—is a concept. It is not the truth. A concept is something that someone may accept and someone may not. The Truth is that which no one can deny.
