The subconscious has a great influence on us
.
The conscious mind is but a fountain on an enormous subconscious lake
- The conscious mind may be compared to a fountain playing in the sun and falling back into the great subterranean pool of subconscious from which it rises. Sigmund Freud
- The mind is like an iceberg, it floats with one-seventh of its bulk above water. Sigmund Freud
- How remarkable we are in our ability to hide things from ourselves – our conscious minds only a small portion of our actual minds, jellyfish floating on a vast dark sea of knowing and deciding. Andrew Sean Greer
- Metaphorically speaking, if your unconscious mind can hold information equivalent to a NASA supercomputer, your conscious mind can hold roughly the contents of a Post-it note. Heidi Grant Halvorson
- Neuroscientists estimate that your unconscious database outweighs the conscious on an order exceeding ten million to one. This database is the source of your creative potential. In other words, a part of you is much smarter than you are. The wisest people regularly consult that smartest part. You can, too, by making space for incubation. So, how do the greatest minds do this? We rarely get our best ideas when we’re officially “at work. If we want to enter the domain of genius, we’ve got to take time for solitude and relaxation. Michael Gelb
.
The subconscious relies on the conscious mind to guard it from negative and mistaken impressions
- The subconscious mind does not engage in the process of proving. It relies upon the conscious mind to guard it from mistaken impressions. When the “watchman” is “off guard,” or when its calm judgment is suspended, under a variety of circumstances, then the subconscious mind is unguarded and left open to suggestion from all sources. Charles Haanel
- Its lack of reasoning ability means that the subconscious is equally willing to carry out negative programmes as it is positive, with often devastating effect. The true potential of the subconscious mind may be limitless but potential alone is more detrimental than useful when the programmes carried out are negative. Tania Kotsos
- Negativity

The subconscious is at the heart of intuition |
.
Awaken intuition through tapping into your subconscious
- Awaken intuition. Reflect on the fact that the perfect answers and solutions exist within you. State clearly what it is that you wish your subconscious to bring to you. Repeat confidently “My subconscious is now bringing me…” Relax and fill your mind with faith and expectancy that the right answers will come. Then listen to your feelings and hunches and “inner voice.” John Kehoe
- Intuition
.
Reprogramming the subconscious |
.
Most people live their lives according to subconscious programs that were ingrained in them when they were children
- Unbeknown to most people their life is being run in strict accordance with a set of deeply ingrained subconscious programmes that they did not consciously choose in the first instance. To make matters worse, it is argued that most of these programmes were locked in place by the age of around ten. Tania Kotsos
- Most people operate in a zombie-like state even at the conscious level, unwittingly allowing all the messages with which they are bombarded to be passed down to their subconscious mind for programming. This ultimately leaves their lives in full control of their subconscious, which in this state, is doing little more than running a bunch of programmes that itself has no idea whether or not they are beneficial. If this is you then essentially your life is being run by an ignorant and quite painfully stubborn ten year old. Tania Kotsos
.
Through the conscious mind, you can reach your subconscious and reprogram it
- It is only through your conscious mind that you can reach the subconscious. Your conscious mind is the porter at the door, the watchman at the gate. It is to the conscious mind that the subconscious looks for all its impressions. Robert Collier
.
The subconscious expresses what the conscious mind impresses on it – be it positive or negative
- We must realize that the subconscious mind is the law of action and always expresses what the conscious mind has impressed on it. What we regularly entertain in our mind creates a conception of self. What we conceive ourselves to be, we become. Grace Speare
- Thoughts of fear and poverty, and all negative thoughts serve as stimuli to your subconscious mind, unless you master these impulses and give it more desirable food upon which it may feed. Napoleon Hill
- Any thought, message or order that is given to the subconscious often enough and convincingly enough will in time be accepted as truth and consistently be carried out with exact precision irrespective of whether it benefits you or not. The most important thing you must know is that it is subjective in nature. This means that it cannot reason or distinguish between positive and negative. Tania Kotsos
- Whatever you put into your mind – in one way or another – is what you will get back out – in one way or another. Shad Helmstetter
.
Use the power of affirmation to program your subconscious
- Affirmations train your subconscious to believe that what you want is not only possible, but that it is already happening. Amanda Harvey
- These repetitive words and phrases are merely methods of convincing the subconscious mind. Claude M. Bristol
- An affirmation is almost like a mantra. It does not really matter if what you are affirming is not totally true as yet. By repeating an affirmation over and over again, it becomes embedded in the subconscious mind, and eventually it becomes your reality. Stuart Wilde
- Any thought that is passed on to the subconscious often enough and convincingly enough is finally accepted. Robert Collier
- We cannot always control our thoughts, but we can control our words, and repetition impresses the subconscious, and we are then master of the situation. Florence Scovel Shinn
- You affect your subconscious mind by verbal repetition. W. Clement Stone
- You will be a failure, until you impress the subconscious with the conviction you are a success. This is done by making an affirmation which clicks. Florence Scovel Shinn
- Affirmations (self-talk)
.
Reprogram the subconscious through creating new, more supportive beliefs
- Create new, more supportive beliefs. Remind yourself that you can voluntarily plant in your subconscious mind any thought or belief you desire, and your mind will accept it provided it is introduced with enough feeling and re- inforced through repetition. John Kehoe
- Everything you believe is a result of repeating something frequently and often enough that your subconscious accepts it as a fact. If your beliefs are not making you happy, or helping you to create the life that you want, it is time to change them. Amanda Harvey
- How successful you will be at anything is inexorably tied to the words and beliefs about yourself that you have stored in your subconscious mind. Shad Helmstetter
- Once your subconscious has accepted a belief or idea, wether true or not, it will continually feed you thoughts to support that belief. John Kehoe
- Your ‘attitude’ is the costume your subconscious mind makes you wear, based on your beliefs. Che Garman
- Belief
.
Reprogram the subconscious through creating new, positive habits
- Changing habits requires the power of focus. Focusing our conscious effort on changing one habit at a time gives us incredible power to reprogram our subconscious. Attempting to change more than one habit diffuses our efforts and drastically decreases our abilities to change our habits. Jack D. Hodge
- Habit
.
Creating the future through the creative power of the subconscious |
.
The subconscious has great creative power…
- The possibilities of creative effort connected with the subconscious mind are stupendous and imponderable. They inspire one with awe. Napoleon Hill
- The subconscious mind is like your magic genie and it will accept anything that you feed to it and it will carry out your every wish. Salvatore Vuono
- The definition of genius is that it acts unconsciously; and those who have produced immortal works, have done so without knowing how or why. The greatest power operates unseen. William Hazlitt
- Like attracts like. Whatever the conscious mind thinks and believes, the subconscious identically creates. Brian Adams
- Creativity
.
… including the ability to create the circumstances that you desire
- When thoughts are conveyed to your subconscious mind, impressions are made in the brain cells. As soon as your subconscious accepts any idea, it proceeds to put it into effect immediately… it draws on the infinite power, energy and wisdom within you. It lines up all the laws of nature to get its way. Sometimes it seems to bring about an immediate solution to your difficulties, but at other times it may take days, weeks, or longer… Its ways are past finding out. Joseph Murphy
- Your powerful, inner collaborator (subconscious) will bring to you the people and circumstances you require to fulfil your goals. “A thousand unseen hands”, as Joseph Campbell describes them, will come to your aid. John Kehoe
- Your subconscious is a powerful and mysterious force which can either hold you back or help you move forward. Without its cooperation, your best goals will go unrealized; with its help, you are unbeatable. Jenny Davidow
.
The subconscious cannot tell the difference between what is real and imagined
- Our subconscious minds have no sense of humor, play no jokes and cannot tell the difference between reality and an imagined thought or image. What we continually think about eventually will manifest in our lives. Robert Collier
- Inspiration, illumination and original ideas come from beyond your conscious mind
- Nobody ever arrives at a very big idea through a conscious, rational thought process. It comes from your unconscious. David Ogilvy
- Errors like straws upon the surface flow: He who would search for pearls must dive below. John Dryden
- Most striking at first is the appearance of sudden illumination, a manifest sign of long unconscious prior work. Henri Poincaré
- Innovators exercise their subconscious. Sometimes, late at night, my subconscious takes over and says, ‘We’ve got to make this happen.’ And then it strikes me. I jump up and down and I holler, ‘I’ve got it! I’ve got it!’ Then I rest up and get ready to go to work. Albert Yu
- Inspiration may be a form of superconscious or perhaps of subconscious: I wouldn’t know. But I am sure it is the antithesis of self-consciousness. Aaron Copland
- Imagination
.
Impress upon the subconscious whatever you want to accomplish
- The person with a fixed goal, a clear picture of his desire, or an ideal always before him, causes it, through repetition, to be buried deeply in his subconscious mind and is thus enabled, thanks to its generative and sustaining power, to realize his goal in a minimum of time and with a minimum of physical effort. Just pursue the thought unceasingly. Step by step you will achieve realization, for all your faculties and powers become directed to that end. Claude M. Bristol
- It is psychological law that whatever we desire to accomplish we must impress upon the subjective or subconscious mind. Orison Swett Marden
- You cannot entirely control your subconscious mind, but you can voluntarily hand over to it any plan, desire, or purpose which you wish transformed into concrete form. Napoleon Hill.
.
What you plant in your subconscious through repetition and emotion eventually becomes your reality
- Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality. Earl Nightingale
- Only one thing registers on the subconscious mind: repetitive application – practice. What you practice is what you manifest. Fay Weldon
- The subconscious mind is more susceptible to influence by impulses of thought mixed with “feeling” or emotion, than by those originating solely in the reasoning portion of the mind. Napoleon Hill
.
Solving problems with the subconscious |
.
The subconscious can work for you and solve problems…
- When you suddenly see the problem, something happens that you have the answer—before you are able to put it into words. It is all done subconsciously. This has happened many times to me, and I know when to take it seriously. I’m so absolutely sure. I don’t talk about it, I don’t have to tell anybody about it. I’m just sure this is it. Barbara McClintock
- I know when I have a problem and have done all I can to figure it, I keep listening in a sort of inside silence till something clicks and I feel a right answer. Conrad Hilton
- I’ve learned that I get blocked when my subconscious mind is telling me that I’ve taken the work in a wrong direction, and that once I start listening to what my subconscious is trying to tell me, I can work out the problem and get moving again. Walter Jon Williams
- So much in writing depends on the superficiality of one’s days. One may be preoccupied with shopping and income tax returns and chance conversations, but the stream of the unconscious continues to flow undisturbed, solving problems, planning ahead: one sits down sterile and dispirited at the desk, and suddenly the words come as though from the air: the situations that seemed blocked in a hopeless impasse move forward: the work has been done while one slept or shopped or talked with friends. Graham Greene
- Problem solving
.
… even while you sleep
- Identify a particular problem or question for which you need clarity. Write the problem down just before retiring for the night, and then go to sleep, possessing full trust that you will come up with a solution to the problem. Confidently assign the problem to your subconscious mind, and expect to receive the answer during the night or upon waking in the morning. Place a pad of paper and a pen next to your bed. Maxwell Maltz
- …those little people, my brownies, who do one half of my work for me while I am fast asleep, and in all human likelihood do the rest for me as well, when I am wide awake and fondly suppose I do for myself. Robert Louis Stevenson
- The mind does most of its best thinking when we aren’t there. The answers are there in the morning. Alain de Botton
- When you plan your day the night before, your subconscious then goes to work on your plans and goals while you are asleep. Very often you will wake up in the morning with ideas and insights that apply to the work of the day. Brian Tracy
- Your subconscious mind has the answer. Turn the problem over to your deeper mind prior to sleep. The response will be a certain “feeling”, and inner awareness, whereby you “know” what to do. Guidance in all things comes as the still small voice within. It reveals all. Brian Adams
- Sleep, Dreaming

The super conscious (higher self) |
.
In addition to your conscious and unconscious mind, there is also your super-consciousness (or higher self)
- The third aspect of your consciousness is your higher consciousness. It is also known as the super-conscious mind, your higher self. It is the least understood and least accessed aspect of consciousness because it does not belong to the physical or mental realm. Its domain is the spiritual realm. It is the You that is All-Knowing and All- Powerful and is the same in kind as the One Universal Mind. It is the You that is beyond not only the physical world but also the emotions of your mental world. Your higher self does not distinguish between good or bad, wrong or right, happy or sad – not because it is unable to but because it has no need to. It is the You that knows only balance. It is the You that is only true Love. It is the eternal observer. It is absolute stillness. Tania Kotsos
.
The super-consciousness is all powerful and all knowing
- Were the subconscious mind all-powerful and all-knowing it could not be subjected to negative programmes for it would know better. The term sub itself tells you that it is below the conscious mind. In fact, it is the lesser counterpart in the hierarchy of consciousness and is what we have in common with the plant and mineral kingdoms albeit at varying degrees. In contrast, higher consciousness is above all. It is truly Omnipotent and Omniscient for it is One with the One Universal Mind. Like the subconscious mind, it is also subjective in nature, not though because it cannot distinguish between the opposites but rather, because it is above them. Tania Kotsos
- Deep within, there is something profoundly known, not consciously, but subconsciously. A quiet truth, that is not a version of something, but an original knowing. What this, absolute, truth identity is may be none of our business…but it is there, guiding us along the path of greater becoming; a true awareness. It is so self- sustaining that our recognition of it is not required. We are offsprings of such a powerfully divine force – Creator of all things known and unknown. T.F. Hodge
- Hgher consciousness is not something you need to acquire or look for outside of yourself. You already possess it. All you need to do is become consciously aware of it and learn to access it. Tania Kotsos
.
Guard your subconscious with your conscious mind, and direct your conscious with your higher self
- Decide now to place your conscious mind on guard at the door of your subconscious mind. Decide now to allow only empowering, positive, nurturing messages to pass through that door. Decide now to hand over the direction of your conscious mind to your Higher Self and in so doing become the silent observer of your life. Tania Kotsos
- Learn to be the unshakable witness to your old patterns and behaviours, knowing that they are simply illusions; the programmes of a previously misguided subconscious mind. Know that through meditation, creative visualization and the repetition of positive affirmations, these old patterns will in time be replaced by new empowering behaviours and beliefs which although just as much an illusion, will ensure your success rather than your failure. By allowing your Higher Self to lead you, you open yourself up to a world of miracles in which you can consciously create your reality. Tania Kotsos
.
The subconscious mind cannot reason, the conscious mind is reason, and higher consciousness need not reason
- In a nutshell, consciousness forms the foundation of the power of your mind. Although there are three distinguishable aspects of consciousness, all three are One. The difference essentially comes down to reason. The subconscious mind cannot reason, the conscious mind is reason, and higher consciousness need not reason. In other words, where your conscious mind is the commander and your subconscious mind the subject, your higher consciousness is your kingdom. When you learn to consciously programme your subconscious mind under the protection of your conscious mind and the direction of your higher self, you will see miraculous transformation in all areas of your life. Tania Kotsos
